Create your own playoff format for the NCAA
How about this?

1) Eliminate all bowl games.
2) Start a 16 team playoff
3) Four, four team regionals with the higher seed the home team
4) The four left over teams play two neutral site games in rotating arenas

How about we quit changing the system every year based on knee jerk reactions?

25 years ago they were still ending games in ties... they are long overdue for tweaking things

1. Every P5 team plays 9 conference games and 2 Non Conf games against other P5 teams.

2. 8 team playoff that includes the 5 conf champions, highest ranked non P5, and 2 at large.

3. Get rid of CFP committee. Go back to BCS computer/polls.

Go ask FCS what they do. Do the same.

Most SEC teams would never allow it.

Then they can form their own league.

8 teams
Power 5 conference champs get automatic bid
Top ranked G5 conference champ gets in
2 wild cards

Preferably having first 2 rounds played on campus of higher seeded team with championship game only at neutral site. Otherwise NY6 bowls could still be used

1) Keep bowl system for anyone not in the top 8
2) Remove conference championships from all conferences
3)1st rd of of playoffs occurs when conference championships used to take place
4)BCS system determines rankings

They can still schedule the game. It just doesn’t count.

This is very interesting. We have seen multiple occasions where conferences that have this game have lost their National Title game contenders due to the extra game. Teams that don't make it get a Bye and back in.

8 team playoff....

ACC Conference Champ
Big Ten Champ
Big 12 Champ
PAC 12 Champ
SEC Champ
Top two non big five conference teams meet championship week for a spot.
Two wild card teams.

So had it been this year....potentially

1) Clemson
2) Oklahoma
3) Georgia
4) Alabama
5) Ohio State
6) Wisconsin
7) USC
8) USF

Round 1
Clemson vs USF
Oklahoma vs USC
Georgia vs Wisconsin
Alabama vs Ohio State

The main reasons I think this should be the case is because

1) the amount of games played does not change (player safety has been addressed as an issue for players playing so many games)

2) The BCS system has been historically a lot kinder to teams like Boise st, UCF, etc... removing a conference championship would make it even more likely for a team like that to get in since there is one fewer game for P5 teams to pad their resume

The FCS has the opposite problem, the playoff is bloated and the last at-large teams in are typically garbage.

I do think six teams is a solid step in the right direction for the FBS, I like giving the top teams byes since they should be rewarded and it helps to preserve the importance of the regular season.

How about you go enjoy the NFL rather than trying to turn CFB into it for frick’s sake.

The bowl season is amazing.
