Cowherd-sourced rumor: Russell Wilson looking at NY Giants as FA due to wife's career

Cowherd said this today. Said he heard the rumor through entertainment agent circles.
Ciara wants out of Seattle and wants to be in New York for her career. Russell is a free agent after 19 season and the giants need a QB. It will cost Seattle $31 million to franchise Wilson for 1 year.
Cowherd said he's putting it out there because it was told to him and people (maybe Wilson's, maybe Ciara's?) wouldn't tell him if they didn't want the rumor floated.
To add context, Wilson last year had the opportunity to negotiate and extention but did not. Carroll said in January that an extension was top priority but other articles have indicated Wilson may want to become a FA and get a massive, fully guaranteed $35-ish mil/yr deal.

Cowherd alluded to this. Said tagging Wilson for 2 or 3 yrs would be too expensive for Seattle, while they're fighting the Rams and upstart 49ers.

Franchise tags should be abolished, teams should not be able to force a player to play for them after their contract expires

Their contract binds them to the league rules so that element of the contract does not expire until the franchise tender deadline has passed.
