No, but Jimbo Fisher should have been Watson Brown's replacement at UAB.
Thanks again Paul Bryant Jr. and the Alabama BOTs for another example of holding UAB athletics back

If you don't think Watson would jump ship from Tennessee Tech after UT opens their considerably sized purse to him, then I would like a puff of what you must be smoking, mon frère. This is big business, like it or not.

Watson was an underrated coach who had to make do as the HC at the likes of Rice, Vandy, and UAB. Class act, too.
Watson has gone home to Tenn Tech, which is in Cookeville, where he is from orginally. I think he had enough of big time football.

Yeah, but after being in Mack's shadow for so long, one has to wonder if he's ready to make one last splash before he heads off into the coaching sunset

Why would Watson leave for a lesser program like UT?

Watson Brown was one of the worst coaches of all time that kept getting new jobs.

this guy had UAB winning 7, 8 games a year when C-USA was much tougher.

He won 7 games twice at UAB. Never 8 or 9

I feel if he can put together a staff of,say, a Dave Rader as OC and a John Thompson as DC, he could bring some glory back to Austin.

, maybe UA would bring in Coach Watson Brown. Far-fetched perhaps, but in this day and age, you just never know, folks.

With all this talk of certain SEC coaches potentially replacing Mack Brown if he is canned by UT, has anyone stopped to think that maybe their best solution is to simply hire his brother Watson Brown? Watson has the Brown coaching blood in him, but he hasn't had the chance to get complacent like Mack. He's still hungry. And let's face it, if you know anything about Watson Brown, you'd know that, with all those resources at his disposal, he would bring titles to Austin. Perhaps's Mack's demise is Watson's shot at the big leagues (so to speak), one last hurrah for elder Brown brother. ...Or maybe, just maybe...if Saban were to leave Bama for Texas (I don't think he will), maybe UA would bring in Coach Watson Brown. Far-fetched perhaps, but in this day and age, you just never know, folks.

Very good points. I just don't see how Texas could out bid Tenn Tech. Like you said...money talks.
