The year he got hurt and they won SB. Maybe that one year is good enough to eliminate a bust label.

He was good in 2019. He carried that team to the playoffs. Unfortunately, he got hurt in that game.

Carson Wentz felt a “twinge” in his foot at the end of Thursday's practice, per #Colts OC Marcus Brady. The team is still evaluating how serious the injury is. But this doesn't sound great.

quote:

If it’s a midfoot injury timeline is as follows: Grade 1 sprain = 1 week, Grade 2 = 5 weeks, and Lisfranc (surgery) = 11 months.

News keeps getting worse and worse. I am concerned this is a season ending Lisfranc injury! The “pop” is classic sign of subluxation.

The Colts have to go after Foles, right?

#Bears QB Nick Foles says he's aware of trade talks surrounding him. He wants to have input on a possible destination so he could land in the right situation.

He hasn't spoken to Frank Reich, but says: "Frank is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, coach of all time."

I don’t feel one good year is enough to eliminate a bust label. He isn’t a massive bust but he has underperformed for the most part which isn’t good for a no.2 overall pick.

Underperformed and bust are two different things. He was the leading MVP candidate in 17. Even his rookie year was decent: 62% completion, 3,600yds and 16 TDs. That's not a bust.

Why, let Jacob or Sam Ehlinger have a chance at it

Reggie Bush underperformed but I wouldn’t call him a bust. Wentz has severely underperformed so I’d call him a bust. His original team didn’t even resign him. One good year isn’t enough. He’s had way more bad then good which is massively disappointing for a no.2 pick.

The guy was the no.2 overall pick. You expect your no.2 overall pick to have a great career. Not one great year. The original comment you were responding to asked if he would be a bust if he was forced to retire now.

Even for that one great year, how much of that was because of his system and supporting cast? I know he made some athletic plays but it’s not like he was carrying a mediocre team. They were solid everywhere which is why they still won their SB without him.

Colts already have backups to roll with, I don't see why they'd go after Foles. BUT, I would lmao if they did and Foles went on a run to where the Colts couldn't bench him once Wentz is healthy.

Forgot that this could affect Philly

quote:

The Carson Wentz injury is actually bad news for the #Eagles

They received a conditional 2nd rounder from the Colts that could turn to a 1st if either one of those happen:

*Wentz plays 75% of the snaps in 2021.

*Wentz plays 70% of the snaps in 2021 and Colts reach playoffs.

Injuries derailing a career that at one point was looking extremely promising (1.5 seasons worth) isn't a bust to me.

It's just shite luck. Bust implies the guy just sucked from jump street.

The Colts have a good roster and have perpetually had to deal with underwhelming QB play since Luck retired. I think the franchise prefer to not put their hopes in two QBs who don't have much experience.

For the same reason people were justifying Wentz doing well in Indy because he's reunited with Reich, you could say the same thing for Foles. And he's currently buried on a roster with no real chance of playing this year, so they could probably get him for cheap.
