Not official, but McMurphy saying likely done next week. The AAC is looking to add 2 more after them

Can confirm @Brett_McMurphy reporting in that Colorado St + Air Force are heavily involved in talks to leave the MW, join the AAC. Brett reporting it's "likely next week."

Source tells CBS: "Getting closer, not across the line yet." Clear desire for the AAC to add more than two.

Boise State and San Diego State were approached, but backed away apparently. Boise State is looking out for a Big 12 invite in the future

So AAC will be:
West
Air Force
Colorado St
Memphis
SMU
Tulsa
Tulane

East
ECU
Navy
Temple
USF

And two out of FAU, Marshall, ODU, and UAB? Or do they try and go after a UTSA and another Texas school and push Tulane and Memphis out East?

I attended an Air Force game in Col. Springs on opening weekend one year. It was different, the paratroopers landing on the field pregame was really cool and they had a little area outside the stadium with some food booths. They even had one booth with jambalaya that definitely didn't measure up

All in all though, attending that tailgate really put into perspective just how huge a CFB Saturday is at a major school like LSU, I felt like a spoiled kid having grown up tailgating at LSU games all my life

They won’t get it.

Wonder if the AAC will raid the MAC, CUSA, or Sun Belt. Gotta believe UAB is a primary target. Maybe one of the two Florida CUSA schools? Or maybe they convince Coastal to make the jump?

I think the next likely invite after AF/CSU will be UAB. After that I would have no idea. Maybe Marshall?

Throw Charlotte into that mix as well.

UAB and UTSA seem to make a lot of sense.

One would think Marshall has to be next on the list. I know their entire university had been dying to get out of CUSA. Marshall has a good fan base, quality size stadium and pretty good sports. They seem like a great get. Not sure why Marshall and App St aren’t already in the AAC to be honest.

UAB

Drove past the new stadium this past weekend, and it is going to be very nice for UAB. Going to try and make a game in October to check it out.

Probably because Marshall is in Huntington, WV, and App State is in Boone, NC.

I know markets aren’t as big a driver as last time around but FAU and Old Dominion seem like better choices on that front. Or UAB, which is a big city which is known for a wealth of HS football talent to recruit from.

USM to the Sun Belt is just waiting on USM Board approval.

Marshall is the front runner for the 12th team. They are waiting on the AAC. If that invite doesn’t come they are Belt bound.

If Marshall continues to drag their feet, then WKU will accept the SBC invite.

Should be announced by the end of a October.

So dumb. So they forgo regional rivalries that they have had for decades to travel even further distances to play.... East Carolina, Temple, Tulsa, and Tulane

USM is fricking broke. If someone covers their exit fee, they can make the jump.

UAB I agree with, good basketball and football and nice facilities to go with a good academics. UTSA has market, but HS level athletic facilities outside of the Alamodome and meh academics.

And if they take these schools I don't know how you balance the conference unless you go to 16 and add another two teams out EAST or further west to shift Memphis and Tulane.

The only issue I see with Charlotte is they would be bottom tier in both MBB and Football, and currently I think their football stadium only seats 14k.
