Unethical? Or worth it for the title?

If I'm a freshman and just turned down good money after the draft or think I'll be a top pick after my junior year, I probably would have taken myself out of tonight's game after ~80 pitches.

Worth what?

Y'all won't know this kid's name in 4 days.

Hell I don't know it right now.

He threw 23 last night and 129 tonight.

He threw 247 pitches over the last 6 days.

That's insane

A HS kid's pitch count would start at around 60 in his first minor league start and end up between 80-100 by the end of his first year.

No professional team would EVER let a kid throw 247 pitches in 6 days.

People would almost assuredly be fired, actually.

I doubt he’s doing it so that people will know his name. He just accomplished something awesome

Unethical and a prime example of why almost no pitcher who is a first day talent should ever go to college.

There are a few college coaches who wouldn’t do this but most have no regard for these kids as they chase meaningless college wins.

Did he get injured and/or do we know this did irreparable harm to his arm?

He's a pitcher.

He only has so many bullets.

Pitchers hurt their arms. You want to postpone that day for as long as possible and you want it to be after you've leveraged your talent into some money or opportunity.

No injury as of yet. Those are just staggering numbers to me.

I can subscribe to this as well. How many pitches did Madison Bumgarner throw in that WS over a short period of time? When a championship is on the line you go for it.

Yeah. The NCAA Tourney is painful to watch with these coaches running these same pitchers out there over and over. Tennessee Tech had a kid who threw 46 pitches, 107 pitches, 57 pitches and 56 pitches in 4 appearances within a week.

Dude was still dealing in the 9th. Didn't even look like he was tired. Pretty remarkable.
