As weird as it sounds, the NFL is coming across as the bad guy here. Who the hell randomly sets up a "workout" on a Saturday, doesn't tell anyone what's going on, and just volunteers Kaep for all this shite.

Yeah this couldn’t be more of a WTF moment. I don’t think they could have screwed up he kneeling and everything after more if they tried

But Weatherspoon tweeted he has felt excluded from the league. “Colin Kaepernick isn’t the only player that deserves a workout,” Weatherspoon tweeted. “I publicly supported him and what he kneeled for! I still kneel on my word! I’ve never even been cut from a team! I’ve definitely been excluded going on damn near 3 years. I’m in Atlanta too @nfl.”

This. Here's a good threadexplaining the whole process of how it went down.

Has the NFL ever done this before, organized a 'pro day' type workout for one player? Can I get them to organize one for me?
I suspect this MUST be a condition agreed upon with respect to the legal action taken by Kaepernick. Otherwise, the NFL is setting a HORRIBLE precedent by doing this. Now every belly-acher and washed up player is going to demand a "NFL organized" workout, and have a legitimate argument they should get one.
ANY NFL team, at ANY time in the last few years could have brought him in for a workout if they were interested in possibly signing him. That literally happens every week in NFL. Clearly no team has ever been seriously interested.
I'm sure the NFL's thought processes is to say "Here. We gave you a fricking unprecedented league-wide workout and no one wanted to sign you. Now STFU. It's not collusion. It's just that you aren't that good."

He will reject whatever offer he's given.

NFL is going to restart this whole fiasco with how they’ve handled this thing.

Huy? Quotes like this make me really suspect the quality of information people use to form their opinions.
This guy has been waking up @ 4:30am to work out 5 days a week for nearly 3 years so he can turn down an offer? Absurd.
This is happening because interested teams wanted cover to evaluate Kap, and Kap was ready to take almost any offer.
Unless he bombs he's on an NFL team next week.

This is just a PR stunt. Nobody is interested in Kap and nobody will sign him. He was bad when he played three years ago and is even worst today by sitting out all of this time.

He was an average NFL qb, but at his time he was clearly better than about 7 players currently starting in the NFL and probably better than another 4.
Reports I've heard are the NFL got calls from more than one team inquiring about him, and instead of letting people think they were gatekeeping the league wanted to wash their hands of it and make it clear that teams could do what they wanted. The NFL office obviously isn't throwing their support behind him, but they want to make it clear that they're not preventing him from trying out and they wanted to make sure teams got cover so a situation where a team declined to sign Kap didn't come across as a dog and pony show where they had no real interest.
Now the onus is on him. If he bombs, it on him. If he's NFL ready, he'll get a shot. It's abundantly clear that the last iteration of Colin Kaepernick was good enough to be on an NFL team. Now nobody can say he's still being blackballed, and everybody will concede that his status in respect to being on an NFL roster is dictated by his ability.

This is just a PR stunt.

This is along the same lines as TO doing a private workout late in his career when nobody wanted him.

Is he going to wear his line of "oppression sport wear" during his work out?
