This kind of renders these whole rankings a joke. Colgate was 11th after yesterday's games. Here is their schedule so far.

W vs Army 101-57
L vs Army 73-75
W vs Boston U 86-79
W vs Boston U 89-45
W vs Holy Cross 95-55
W vs Holy Cross 96-87
W in OT vs Holy Cross 74-63
W vs Holy Cross 78-60
W vs Army 84-74
W vs Army 92-83

Teams they are ahead of include: Villanova, USC, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Tennessee

What a joke

It’ll be ok. They’ll either be an auto qualifier or not in the tournament.

True but it doesn't give the formula a whole lot of credibility.

I can't wait until Colgate hits 70% of their 3 pointers against a 3 seed and we revive this thread.

ETA: I still remember Jordan Burns balling like his life depended on it against Tennessee two years ago.

So, they should be a 3 seed in NCAAs playing the 14th seed since they’re 11 in NET.

If someone ever tried to use the NET to solely rank teams then probably

They very may well do that. Doesn’t make it any ridiculous they are ranked so high playing 10 games against 3 teams. It deflates other team’s NET. 10 games from 1 team with 20 plus from others should be a large enough sample size where the rankings aren’t a mockery.

It's the same reason you had so many mid major teams ranked in the Top 25 in football. Since these teams didn't play their typical non conference schedule and body bag games, they have inflated records and stats.

Since none of the Patriot League, the league Colgate plays in, played non conference games, their computer ratings are not being weighed down by being blown out by P5 teams in non conference play, so their NET rankings are based on only games against each other. It makes teams like Colgate look like a monster.

The problem here is you're trying to rank teams with WAY too few "touching points" between conferences.

FWIW, Navy were actually acceptable in nonconference - so it's not like this is a "down" Patriot League.

They are probably a dangerous 12/13 seed if they place them fairly.

I don’t think any of his ridiculous 3s even hit iron.

in football, you had two P5 conferences that didn’t start until late October
