Coach K blamed his outburst to the Duke student section on the passing of Kobe Bryant

On Tuesday night, Krzyzewski scolded Duke’s “Cameron Crazies” for a seemingly innocuous chant about Pittsburgh head coach Jeff Capel. Fans told Capel, who served as a Duke assistant from 2011-2018, to “sit with us,” (an apparently common chant for ex-players) and Coach K was none too pleased. The Duke legend walked over to fans during halftime and passionately told them that Capel is “one of us” and yelled at them to “shut up.”
Krzyzewski held a surprise speech for about 40-50 students the next day, according to a report from the Duke Chronicle, explaining that his reaction was partly influenced by the “fragile emotional state” caused by Kobe Bryant’s sudden death in a helicopter crash Sunday. The report goes on to say that Coach K “went into significant detail” about his relationship with Bryant, whose 13-year-old daughter Gianna –as well as seven other passengers — also died in the tragic accident.

I’m a Duke fan but his attitude towards the student section over the last 7 years has been backwards.
He forgets the Cameron Crazies gave him and continuously give him great home court advantage.
He’s been like a social justice warrior. This isn’t the first time he’s come on the student section for elementary type chants.

That is BS. What a lame excuse. All of those student that took their time to come to the game & show their passion for Duke basketball should just not show up anymore if that is how he is going to treat them.

The way I saw the video the other night, the student section acted like a second grade class chanting your a meanie while coach K walked over like a crazy lunatic screaming you shut your whore mouth!

I’m not his biggest fan.

He’s gonna go down as one of the top 5 college coaches of all time, regardless of sport, and has done more to damage that reputation in the last 6 years than the 30 years prior.
