re: Chris Petersen steps down as Washington HC, transitions to advisory role
Always liked Peterson as a person and coach. Sad to hear he has a son that’s ill. I think dudes gonna ride off into sunset personally, he took two programs further then most anybody ever expected. He would be great as an analyst, very well spoken man.

With Lake turning down other jobs it sounds like this must have been planned behind the scenes for some time.

Sounds like he's just burned out and wants time off for awhile.

He may be a HC again in a year or 3, but he's not going to be one next year.

He has a child fighting a disease or cancer, doesn't he? I remember that being a reason he passed on a lot of jobs while at Boise. But maybe I'm just crazy

You’re 100% correct. His child has been treated by Drs. in Seattle since his Boise days. That’s why everybody said the only big time job he would take was UDub. This makes me worry his kid may not be doing well.

I don't blame him...he has a kid with a severe disability. Maybe he just wants to spend time with family? He has made a ton of money, no shame in becoming a family man at this point. He will always be known as a great coach.

I can already see him being rumored for every job for the next 20 years and him never taking one

really crazy how guys like Peterson and Kelly weren't able to recreate the success at their new places that they had at their former schools.

I’d say Peterson’s UW run was very successful and produced similar hardware to his time in Boise

I mean before he got to UW they hadn't had a 10 win season since 2000

He won 10+ in each of the prior three seasons.

Stoops on steroids.

compared to what he did at Boise St. I think the one year in the playoffs doesn't compare. At least from what I remember.

This exactly. Though he may resurface in 3 or 4 years.

re: Chris Petersen steps down as Washington HC, transitions to advisory role
People bring up all the outside reasons he might be stepping down but the biggest reason is they went 7-5. He’s not used to getting his arse beat.
