I don't really understand this. Were they not wanted in San Diego? Were games not well attended?

Locals didn't want to fork over public funding for a new stadium.

Wouldn't hotel taxes have covered a lot of it?

Are they going to share a stadium now with the Rams, or will one of them use one of the countless empty stadiums in LA?

Los Angeles is the only city in America where the NFL is third fiddle after the NBA and MLB and now they're about to get two teams

Don't forget the NHL. Two successful NHL franchises in the Kings and Ducks. They are bigger in the NFL in LA too, which is incredible.

The plan called for that, but the taxpayers were worried about getting stuck with the bill.

Once pen got to paper, I would hope the taxpayers wouldn't have been stuck with the bill. I still have my Tomlinson powder blue jersey somewhere. What a beautiful jersey.

I'm glad a city finally told an NFL team to frick off when they asked for the residents to pay for a new stadium.

That's easy to say when it's not your city losing the team. Hotel taxes would have covered much of it. LA Chargers just doesn't sound right.

It sure is.

It would have been a private stadium, right?

These are billion dollar businesses making the public foot the bill for their own shite. frick off with that.

I just hate seeing anyone lose their team. I'm curious how many Chargers fans will still support them in another market. Sounds like Remote Controlled is already done with them.

Attendance after week 8:

Some people forget NFL teams don't get 100,000+ attendance like college teams. Hell 70k-80,000 is great for NFL teams . Plus a lot of fans would rather watch at home considering the traffic, high concession prices, high parking prices, etc.

Isn't Spanos on the hook for $1/2B to the league as a relocation fee over 10 years. The league was supposed to give him some help with it, but if he is willing to commit to that kind of money, you would have thought that the guy truly could have figured out a way to make it work in SD if he truly wanted.

I read an article from the SD paper and there is no love loss in SD for Spanos and most citizens blame him (and it local government) for the relocation.

It's a shame to see, but good for the taxpayers for not being held hostage by the team. This just seems like a stupid decision.

The residents were not paying. The tourist were with the increased hotel tax
