Totally ridiculous. How can anyone expect a guy who coached at a mid-major where he was listened to like a God by his players to be able to reach a bunch of crappy NBA players?

This is such a fail. Rebuilding stages. New players, new coach...it's gonna be a LONG season.

which shows you know nothing about basketball and/or are very young. it is a rebuild and we are in tank mode. low risk and high reward deal for ainge. let's see if he can develop players. somebody has to babysit while we tank.

Wow, holy shite, didn't expect that. Hope he does well in Boston, though.

Step 1 -
We got 4 1st rd picks(possibly a few lottery picks) for KG,PP and Doc. Set up with 2 in 2014,15,16,18 , and also having the ability to switch picks with the nets in 2017.

Step 2-
Goes out and hires a Great young basketball mind , who has won the most college games ever by a coach in his first 6 years. He is the perfect coach you hire for a rebuild. I mean he took a team with Mack and Hayward to 2 straight National Championship games.

Now he is going to get a chance to develop a top 5 talent in last years draft(Sully), a second team all-defensive player ( Bradley), The most efficient player with the highest per in college basketball last year (Olnyk).

Add to that we have a Great floor general in rondo , who knows what it takes to win a championship, and play his best on the biggest stages . Dooling raved last year how Rondo is the smartest player he's ever known.

Jeff green is a very versatile 15-20 ppg vet , who has great character and determination . That is a great vet to have for a young team

- we will likely have a high lottery pick after this year, especilly with Rondo saying there is no timetable for his return .

If we can add a Wiggins, Parker,Gordon,Randall to that . We are talking a BRIGHT FUTURE.

Step 3 - Even if not , we have so many assets that we could move for a legit big man . We have 9 first rd picks in the next 5 years

Aldridge has already let it be known he doesn't want to be in Portland.

Love might want out of Minny , because they have no shot at a title with those dumb signings of Kevin Martin and Budinger . That team is going to be stuck in mediocrity, not having cap flexibility , and drafting in the 15-20 range

If we can develop some of these young guys , we can send them away with Picks for another legit star .

I for one am VERY excited about Danny's plan and the direction of the franchise !

Totally out of left field but I like it. Gotta commend the Celtics for taking a risk instead of hiring a retread.

i actually like the hire a lot.

you can't sit here and tell me coaches like.. let me see.. eric spo had a better resume than this cat when he took over a much, much better team.

secondly, you can't put him in the same league as say, cal or pitno those guys are coaches but primiarily recruiters. Stevens is a larry brown X and O type guy. he will put his players in a position to win and if they don't get with the program they will get shipped out

i think he will be fine and this is a really good hire.

They should have gotten a retread like Carlisle or Belichick.

The Celtics just got a shite load of 1st round picks why would Stevens be under any pressure to win? It is Boston but they pretty much told their fans and the whole NBA they are in rebuilding mode. He can have 3 losing seasons and get some players but if he can get some quality guys in the draft, I think year 4 is the only year he will face some pressure. Dude is set for at least 3 years

Stevens might be one of the best Xs and Os coaches they could have hired. The NBA isn't as much about that as the college game though. Managing egos and the ability of your front office to to put a team together with chemistry and talent is even bigger.
