Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach Britt Reid has been charged with felony driving while intoxicated for his involvement in a car crash earlier this year that left a 5-year-old girl critically injured.

Prosecutors in Jackson County, Missouri, filed the class D felony charge Monday, stating that Reid "operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and acted with criminal negligence by driving at an excessive rate of speed."

If convicted, Reid would face a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

The crash occurred Feb. 4, when police say Reid's truck slammed into two vehicles on the side of a highway entrance ramp near Kansas City's NFL training complex next to Arrowhead Stadium, injuring 5-year-old Ariel Young and another child inside one of the cars.

Police have said Reid admitted to investigators to having had "two or three drinks" along with prescribed Adderall before the crash.

The child didn't die, but was critically injured. I was thinking that, too, and originally put "deadly crash" in the thread title before realizing my mistake.

Britt got a bit of instant karma for this whole thing, this is what the last sentence of the police statement says

This guy has a history of this. Maybe the severity of the consequences will get him to choose a different path.
I hope the child can have a meaningful recovery and Reid should be on the hook financially for that as well.

I have no doubt that the child’s family will have a significant financial settlement with the Reids soon.

Every single lawyer in the area would dream of having a case like this.

I mean it’s only been 2 months. That’s pretty quick for a criminal investigation to have an official charge

Doesn’t appear that he voluntarily blew so they likely had to wait for the blood test results to come back in, and also wait for the medical situation of one of the victims to sort out so they know what to charge him with

I will guarantee you between money he is already received from his father and his coaching salary he hasn’t that worth of a few million dollars.

Idk, he probably is worth some money, but this isn’t helping his coaching career and I doubt Andy is just giving him millions to save up.

But you’re right, who wouldn’t want to take the case and then find out?
