Hell, people in New York and New England don't even understand it.

You just can't get it through almost any euros about the magnitude of college football

Only a handful of college football atmospheres compare. And only because the stadiums are bigger. A much higher percentage of soccer fans get into the chants and pageantry during the game. At American football games, a large amount of people sit with their arms folded and quiet the entire game. That is not so for most European football matches.
hell our college sports are bigger than their pro sports

I think soccer is so fricking boring but it’s the most popular sport worldwide by a pretty significant margin.
I don’t get it.
The play never stops and the games are pretty quick, usually done in just over 2 hours. My wife has no attention span for football or baseball but has said she enjoys soccer matches we've been to. Going to soccer matches is a lot of fun IMO

He didn't do Auburn's eagle flight!

With a seating capacity of 100,077, Bryant-Denny is the fourth-largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference, the eighth-largest stadium in the United States, and the tenth-largest stadium in the world.
I already know this fact, and it still kinda blows my mind. Tenth largest in the world is only good enough for fourth in the SEC.

I used to hold that same point of view, until I went to my first Premiere League match, and experienced the pre-game/post-game atmosphere. Eventually I began to understand the nuances of the game and appreciate the tactics and level of athleticism of the players, and it became much more enjoyable to me. Living in Europe for a couple of years enhanced the experience for me. I try and catch a couple of matches every time I go back to the UK.

Football is all we got down here

Everyone needs to go to an SEC night game. A big or an intense one. It’s just different.

I was mainly referring to stadiums.....European soccer fans are fricking unhinged...it's wild. Watched a vice documentary on a Slavic soccer rivalry where supporters had identities hidden because they've committed so many crimes during games/against rival supporters...... I love LSU, but I'm not catching an assault charge for them lol

Weird that they would be that surprised. The Camp Nou (Barcelona) hold 99,000 so it’s not like it would be inconceivable to them.
Maybe so. But think about this: Barcelona has a 99,000 seat stadium, Barcelona’s population is approaching 6million. We have a 102k seat stadium, our whole state’s population is less than half of Barcelona.

They look at American football like we look at them and soccer.
Baseball would be a better analogy. They think it's a sport for teenage girls. We think soccer is for teenage girls.

Yes, but that type of size is only reserved for the absolute elite, top-tier soccer teams in the entire world. They're also located in some of Europe's largest cities. Most play in stadiums much smaller.
It's not just Europeans. There are plenty of Americans here that I've met that were never really into college football. Telling them SC has an 80,250-seat stadium and we're only like 8th biggest in our conference alone blows their mind.
ETA: Outside of the South, some spots in Big 10 country and the mid-west, college football being the primary sport is almost non-existent. It's so big for us and big in the US as a whole it's easy to forget how localized it is in the grand scheme of things.

Looking at the EPL stadium sizes compared to sec stadium sizes, excluding vandy for obvious reasons, there are only 2 epl stadiums (Manchester and Tottenham) bigger than our smallest stadium (Kentucky).

They think football is boring because of constant commercials and a 5 second play followed by 40 seconds until the next play. It's constant breaks in the limited action.

I think you'll find we think Baseball is the most boring sport in the world.
That is just rounders (a primary school sport)
Another thing - to my eye atleast - is college stadiums don't have seats. This allows for a much bigger capacity than stadiums with seats

A lot of them find it hard to believe NFL teams and the NFL as a whole rakes in more cash then any other sports league in the world. Because the NFL has a mostly American audience, they just don’t see how that’s possible.

I had a few friends from NY/NJ in college and it took them a minute or two to grasp the magnitude of CFB down here
And these were people who signed up to come to an SEC school, so they already had some form of a clue, but it still took them by surprise once they got to Athens/The SEC.
