K.J. Hill’s recruitment was a brutal one for Razorback fans as the North Little Rock native was at one point committed to Bret Bielema’s Arkansas program but ultimately signed with Urban Meyer’s Ohio State program in the 2015 recruiting cycle.

quote:

After taking his official visit to Arkansas, Hill was scheduled to visit Ohio State officially leading up to National Signing Day. The week of the visit, Zach Smith (disgraced former Ohio State receivers coach Zach Smith, the guy that has been accused of domestic violence against his ex-wife that eventually led to Meyer being suspended last season? Well, he’s back after being fired at Ohio State and he’s started up a podcast. Incredibly, it’s titled “Menace 2 Society") claims Bielema tried to cancel Hill’s visit without his knowledge.

“K.J. Hill is coming for an official visit. It’s the Monday before his official visit starts that Friday. (Former Ohio State assistant) Chris Ash comes into my office and says, ‘Hey, listen to this. This is bizarre.’ He has a voicemail from Bret Bielema saying, ‘Hey Chris, Bret. Just wanted to let you know that K.J. is going to cancel his official this weekend. I just wanted to apologize but he’s not going to come.’

Hill confirmed the bizarre story on Twitter

Holy frick. There had to be a better way to write all that out. The part in parenthesis is longer than the rest of the sentence.

I added the parentheses part from a different part of the article so people knew who the source was

Bielema is one of the worst coaches in sec history. He was historically terrible at Arkansas.

Not here to defend bielema but this is only side of the story.

Remember kj was ruled ineligible toward the end of his high school career which ended up getting his hs coach fired.

Bert was a disiater at Arkansas. He had no idea how recruiting worked and he simply gave up after getting a giant extension and buyout (we ended up paying nearly $12 million to go away after torpedoing an already fragile team.

He blew more 2nd half and 4th qtr double digit leads than I can count and lost to more G5 schools in 5 years than we had in history. He was simply overwhelmed by the SEC and would not adapt.

Losing Hill as a recruit was only the half of it. He did l not believe in offering more than a handful of kids and every year, inevitably when a recruit did not pan out, the staff was scrambling for scraps to even fill out a class, and often did not sign the full allotment.

He also had the worst strength and conditioning program I've ever seen. He literary did not care about speed and would rather have size... Like it was 1973. And even when he did have huge guys, they were in horrendous shape and gassed out every 4th qtr.

I can't say how much he set back the program back, all while collecting a top 10 coach type salary. That's basically the fault of the cuck AD though, who gave him a giant contract extension after he won 6 games and beat a simpleton, Charlie Strong Texas team in a shitty bowl.... Mind you, he had about 10-15 nfl level players on that squad and still only won 6 games and a bowl.

People always liked Bert as a person, but he was extremely spiteful on weird matters just like the KJ Hill thing. He openly went to a Texas coaches convention and basically said their HS spread concepts were weak, virtually destroying all relationships in the state that should have been, and is historically, the lifeblood of Arkansas recruiting.

Only after hiring a former HS coach from there is the program back in the state. Bert had one of the biggest talent pools in the country (Dallas metroplex) 5 hrs away from campus and he never exploited it.

I'm rambling, but folks should know how utterly Clueless he was in the league. It also pains me that he has a SB ring. Although I love the Pats. It does though bring me solice that he was not named the DC for NE.

He belongs as a line coach in the nfl. This recruiting thing ain't for him...

Crazy that Bert made three straight "grandeddy of them alls" and won ten games 4 different times in that shite conference. The joke ain't Bert. It's the big 10.

Saban has surely done worse. I bet that dude would get TSA to stop a recruit from visiting somewhere.

It's absolutely true. Kingsbury exposed him after they beat our arse with Mahomes. Kliff legit wanted to fight him it looked like in his post game presser.

He just got his arse kicked

What's even funnier is Kliff isnt normally a shite talker so when even he calls you out that hard you know you're an a-hole.

At least Bert got to hop on his wife a lot

Amazingly, Bert's only strengths were his ability to beat LSU and Ole Miss. I think he went winless against Miss State, yet got probably half of his conference wins from those two schools alone... Both of whom had markedly better teams in paper. I think he only lost yo LSU twice and Ole Miss once.

Only after he lost to both teams his last year did he finally get the Axe.

In that same period, he also lost to Toledo and Rutgers
