I haven't heard much of antyhign at all on this topic since the night it ahppened so apolgoies in advance if this is an utterly stuipd question...but can he ever play again?

It depends on the root cause of the cardiac arrest.

Alright this is my time to be a bit cynical. The "You won the game of life" bit the doctors are spewing seems a bit much.
