Pitching matchups:

Teheran vs Lester
Fried vs Alzolay
Keuchel vs Darvish
TBD vs Chatwood

Should be a good series. Teheran and Lester matched up already and both pitched well. That game became a bullpen game.

I have no clue about Alzolay since he only has one appearance.

The Braves got after Darvish earlier this year.

Chatwood appeared in relief and did well against the Braves in the Darvish start I think.

Fried has struggled recently but did well in his last start against Pittsburgh.

If both are healthy by Thursday, I wouldn't be surprised to see either Newcomb or Soroka take the start in place of recently optioned Foltynewicz. If they bring someone from AAA, Thursday will be Bryse Wilson's scheduled day. He pitched on Saturday, and Kyle Wright pitched on Thursday last week so he'd be another option on extended rest.

In general, the Cubs just played a shitty series last time, but it was the start of the year and I seriously doubt we'll see that sort of play again. The Cubs are probably in more urgent need of wins since the other 4 teams in the NLC are all closer to them than the 2nd place team in the NLE is to the Braves ( @ the Phillies). I'll be happy with a split.

pretty much every other divisional race sucks besides the NLC.

yep. if you go by Baseball-Reference's playoff odds, the Braves, Dodgers, Twins and Astros all have greater than 85% chances to win their divisions (Braves are the only one less than 90% at 87.5). The Yankees have a 51.8% chance and the Cubs have a 53.9% chance.

In fact, you can almost pencil in 4 of the 5 NL playoff teams with 4 teams vying for the 5th spot. In the AL, you can pencil in the Yankees, Rays, Twins, and Astros with only 3 teams fighting for the 5th spot.

Yall are going to tag both Darvish and Chatwood and it won't be pretty

In general I see a ton of runs being scored by both teams this week. The bleacher bums will have a hell of a time catching homerun balls.

Darvish has been good over his last 5. Chatwood has been pretty reliable all year, too

If it were soccer, it'd be called the Carey Derby.

Well no Q is beneficial to us. I’ll say we split and I’d be happy with that.

Albies and Freeman will of course have monster series.

True, they have been, but I'm still waiting on complete consistency.

Neither currently has that.

Darvish over his last 6 has been good for at least 6 innings and 2-3 ER. I’m thinking we’re to just expect that, if that’s the case I’m at least OK with it.

I was going to ask about this. I thought a larger majority of the home games were still early start times. I don't pay attention to their schedule or anything, so seeing these start times made me assume that they were transitioning to primarily a night game schedule.

no im pretty sure their agreement with the city and neighborhood still call for roughly the same amount of day games. This surprised me too.

How’s yalls bullpen? That’s where the Braves have been feasting lately. Also where opponents have done the same

luckily Puke Jackson has pitched in back to back games, so I'm hoping he is unavailable for today

Not to be confused with the Harry-Busch Derby.
