This honestly hurts

quote:

Florida State’s legendary football coach – who turns 92 in November – wife Ann and their family announced Wednesday that Bowden has been diagnosed with a terminal medical condition.

"I've always tried to serve God's purpose for my life, on and off the field, and I am prepared for what is to come," Bowden said in a statement shared with the Democrat. "My wife Ann and our family have been life's greatest blessing.

"I am at peace."

The Bowden family has also asked for privacy as Bowden deals with his health

Tally paper

Update:

quote:

Bobby Bowden's terminal diagnosis has been revealed to be pancreatic cancer, his son announced Thursday.

Good for you Bobby. I hope you’re able to go out on your own terms somewhat.

He has had a long full life. It's still gonna be difficult for those of us whose first sports heroes and memories are him

A run that may not be duplicated… from 1987 to 2001 FSU finished in the top 5 every single year…..

He’s had a great long successful life.

I’ve met him and he was very sincere and nice.

We should all be so lucky.

Kudos for FSU coming to LSU multiple times to play football
Loved going to those games as a kid in Tiger Stadium against Bowden and the boys
The Orange throwing game was lit!

And before that great run from 87 /2001 he had two years in a row at the orange bowl in 79 and 80 that he could have won an NC… BUT the best move he ever made was saying “I’m gonna put FSU on the map”. That was before 1981 when FSU played 5 straight games on the road against teams like Nebraska and LSU and I think Ohio St.

The story of Bobby Bowden helping Marshall after their plane crash is a great one. He gave the Marshall coaches all of WVU's playbooks and game film to help them install a veer offense with a whole new roster. He also petitioned the NCAA to allow his WVU team to forfeit their own game, wear Marshall's uniforms, and play Marshall's final game of the 1970 season.

Tallahassee paper headline

quote:

'I am at peace': FSU's Bobby Bowden diagnosed with a terminal medical condition

What USA Today went with

quote:

Bobby Bowden, whose health has deteriorated since he tested positive for COVID-19 last October, has been diagnosed with a terminal medical condition.

The article makes no mention of or provides a link to his terminal condition and him beating covid last October. Shameless.

He also offered Nick Saban a position on his staff at West Virginia as a GA when his father died to be closer to home and help his mother. Bobby Bowden is a fantastic man.

Met him in 2010 on a uso tour. He talked to each person for as long as they wanted. Super nice. We talked about LSU while gene stallings stared at my LSU shirt. I still have the football he signed.

Why do you think you need to know what it is?
It's terminal, who cares what it is.
