The Rogers Centre could be a thing of the past.

Rogers Communications Inc., owners of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the real-estate arm of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. are interested in demolishing the stadium and replacing it with a new one in Toronto's downtown core, sources told Andrew Willis of The Globe and Mail.

The two companies are working with government officials on a plan that would see the stadium cut in half as part of a redevelopment project.

The plan is to construct a new baseball-focused facility on the south end of where the current stadium lies while filling the north section with residential towers, office buildings, and other businesses.

Canada is gonna have to get off their high horse first, or else it's gonna be the San Antonio Blue Jay's someday soon.

Its gonna be the world's largest yurt, constructed by an entirely Muslim female construction crew isn't it?

Justin from Canada is picking out his culturally appropriated outfit already.

Deep South needs an MLB team bad. Time for MLB to end its racism.

Did the Braves move back to Milwaukee or Boston?

I was surprised to learn the stadium is 31 years old. Seems like just a fews years ago they built it.

Isn't this how they got the Spurs and almost the Saints in more or less the same fashion?

The Spurs started out as the Dallas Chaparrals of the old ABA, but had to temporarily relocate to San Antonio due to the old SMU field house being unavailable, only to never move back to Dallas, and of course most people here are familiar with how they almost stole the Saints during hurricane Katrina.

San Antonio: An undervalued sports city...are conniving bastards. A new 30 for 30 on ESPN.

I’ve been to the Rogers Centre. It’s a dump. One of the worst stadiums I’ve ever been to, in general.

No, they moved when new owners bought the team and relocated them there. There was a clause in the contract which allowed the new owners three years to see if the deal would work; if not they could return the team for a full refund.

An MLB team in Birmingham or Jackson or something certainly seems possible. Atlanta or maybe Charlotte or Nashville is as Deep South as it’s gonna get, hate to break it to you

It was built in a dead era for stadiums. Camden Yards ushered in the retro/classic look, but that was a few years away. I loved the Skydome, but I agree it’s time for something new. Fans are so far away from the field in that place.

Hopefully there’s some foresight into building something new so it can last more than 30 years.

I do indeed remember reading now how that relocation to SA came to be.

Remember Cincinnatus Powell from right here in Baton Rouge, McKinley HS.?

It's always been one of the most generic looking stadiums every time I see it on TV. Nothing ever stands out about it.
