Saw it labeled the Red River Showdown today and wondering if the snow flakes got ahold of the name and changed it?

It's the Shootout. Idk where this "rivalry" or "showdown" bullshite came from tbh.

Why do you even care about this? Are you trying to update your "enemies of the state" list?

I'm still seething over the Colt 45s going all PC in 1965 and changing their name to the Astros.

They changed the name in the mid 2000s because they thought it painted a bad picture that supported gun violence. Yes, it's retarded

Just shocked honestly that the libs have enough of a foothold in big 12 country to get the name changed

Kinda sad actually

annual Texas-OU game is now the AT&T Red River Showdown

Fans still call it the Red River Shootout. Google Trends shows it’s still more popular than the current official one.

It's only the media that tried to change it for P.C. reasons. Like the Wizards.

For the first 100 years of rivalry’s history, it was the Red River Shootout.

The Shootout name stuck until 2005, when a corporate sponsor changed the name to the “SBC Red River Rivalry” to avoid the gun violence connotations that “shootout” has.

The Las Vegas shooter must not have gotten the memo. If he had known I really doubt he’d have murdered those innocent people.

To this day the worst showing of PC was the weekend following Sandy Hook. ESPN refused to use the term 'pistol offense' when calling the SMU game that morning.

Speaking of Red River Shootout, anyone down there at the Fair? What's the new, big Fried item?

Smacks of TBS’s policy of calling things “international objects” instead of “foreign objects” during wrestling... doesn’t do any good and just makes them look stupid.

A pistol is shorter than a shotgun... Hence the name pistol offense. In Chris Alt's pistol offense, the QB lines up much shallower than a QB in the traditional shotgun. He also has a back right behind him or beside him in the pistol.

Look at late years of Peyton Manning to see the pistol. He was in it almost exclusively.

The pistol:
