I played against the UNC JV in both Carmichael and the Dean Dome. Much preferred Carmichael and the atmosphere was a lot better.

I will say the Smith Center has done some things to make the atmosphere better (like moving the students closer to the floor).

I know most places inflate attendance numbers, so maybe 30?

I've been to probably 40 arenas and Bud Walton was the best environment

Bud Walton when it's full (19,000-ish) is easily a top college basketball environment. Apparently Frank Broyles, the legendary Arkansas football coach and longtime AD, went all over the country in the early 90s researching how to build both a large, world class indoor arena AND keep some intimacy and noise and environment.

But honestly, the Bud is no match for their former home, Barnhill Arena.

It was a lot like Cameron Indoor - an old, small-ish, right on top of you, quirky noise machine. It only sat about 9,000, but I think it rivaled any home envrionment in the history of CBB. It alos helped that Arkansas had about a 20-year run that building that included regular final 4 teams and national title contenders, but the crowds werr also unbelievable, thehad Chants and hog calls and the band and lots more than the crowds now have.

Stokely in Knoxville was a really cool place as well RIP. Saw an indoor track meet there years ago and can only imagine how cool a packed basketball game would have been

Barnhill is an incredible venue. BWA is a world class basketball arena but it’s become a bit sterile over the years. I’ve always thought Barnhill reminded me of Assembly Hall.

Wichita State has to be up there. It's raved about every single time ESPN comes here.

This is a very good one. Went there when they played Tennessee 6 or 7 years ago with the VanVleet/Baker undefeated team and it was crazy. Game was in their downtown off campus arena so I didn't get the full impact but it was really good.
Was here for this. Great game and atmosphere. Walked right out of Intrust and partied at Lou's with Coach Marshall in his grey pinstripe suit haha.

I can’t remember the name of the gym, but I always enjoy watching Purdue home games. Really cool environment with the students right up on the basket almost.

No longer.

Gotta give Oregon credit, they always liked being on top of you and the fan close to the action.

When Providence plays at URI its fricking electric. Tough ticket too. Tourney feel. Rhody has a great lil arena, fans right in top of the court. Cant wait til Dayton comes to town later this season.

Providence on the other hand... meh. not a fan of the dunkin donuts center. Been to a few NCAA tourneys there and it's good for hosting, but the atmosphere is very lacking, cooperate, NBA vibe.

About right. And usually the team was terrible.

Built a new place (mainly to house all the commencement exercises for the local high schools plus the WNBA team).
