Best examples of a "system" helping a program win more than it should have?

Who ya got? I'm talking about programs (any sport, any level) that objectively and consistently overachieved its talent level over a several year period due to a well-executed tactical or schematic advantage. I'll start with these:

TB Rays (2018-)
Wisconsin football (1993-)
Stanford football (2009-2018)

Wisconsin basketball under Bo Ryan too. Multiple 30 win seasons with little to no NBA talent

Early on, yes. But they are now landing elite recruits.

What's the Wisconsin system again? 5 Midwestern white dudes on the line with a power back?

Andy Reid's system makes Patrick Mahomes look way better than he really is. Remove Reid, Mahomes isn't paid 50mil.

They had also went 30 years without winning the league before Klopp won the league in 2020. They also rank 11th in net spend among Premier League clubs since Klopp took over. Manchester City and Manchester United’s net spend is nearly 4x higher than Liverpool. The fact that Liverpool has been the only club that has been able to challenge City in the league over the past five years while being so grossly outspent is amazing.

So butthurt

They didn't have success just based off of the offense.

The defenses during Chip's time had a say in their success. Some of the best if not the best defenses they have ever had in their history.

You should remember, Udub only scored more than 20 points,(21), once against Chip led Oregon.

For soccer fans, the answer is Brentford FC. They are a small neighborhood club in West London who have historically been in the 3rd or 4th tier of English football. Now they are a Premier League side and look to stay up this year if their form continues.

You can’t handle the truth. It was far and away the greatest run in Oregon history, and they did so with lesser talent than conference rivals, like USC. Chip was ahead of the curve with his offense, hence Oregon under Chip Kelly is the perfect answer to this thread topic.

2006 Mike Bellotti 7–6
2007 Mike Bellotti 9–4
2008 Mike Bellotti 10–3
2009 Chip Kelly 10–3
2010 Chip Kelly 12–1
2011 Chip Kelly 12–2
2012 Chip Kelly 12–1

2013 Mark Helfrich 11–2
2014 Mark Helfrich 13–2
2015 Mark Helfrich 9–4
2016 Mark Helfrich 4–8
