I believe This system was all fine and dandy with Kraft until such time as Tom Brady became the replaceable player.

Really think Bill felt Jimmy G was a great option for a continued 10+ year success of the franchise and Brady now was the expendable asset. Bill reportedly stays distant with all current players (Brady included) for this very reason. This was a lot easier to do when he was pushing aside Seymour, Wolfort, etc

Would’ve been a business move.

When he realized he had a suitable replacement in Jimmy G. Brady best case only has a few good seasons left. He is already 40.

When you have Jimmy G on the bench and willing to take a decent contact.

How many MVPs are replaceable players?

And Kraft never told belicheck to trade Jimmy. That's been the consistent story from every trusted NE source for the past 6 months. I'm not trusting Seth wickerham over those guys

Jimmy wasn't willing to take any contract.

Well, Bill is just going to have to get over it.

Taking team friendly deals, going to 7 Super Bowls and winning 5 of them buys a shitload of goodwill. Nobody over there wants to see Brady in a Jets uniform in his last couple of years.

Maybe but I could see Kraft telling Bill that Brady is untouchable.

It does make you wonder how good Brady actually is. W/o him, the Pats are above .500. For comparison when Peyton was out for the Colts, they were the worst team in the league.

Brady is still the best QB on the roster with a great contract.

Seems like exactly the move belicheck would make instead of the risky upcomer.

Yeah, I think Jimmy G is going to be a very good QB but where did this "better than Brady" shite come from all of a sudden?

5 games with a 8 TD/5 INT ratio gets you to the HOF these days

He's repeatedly done this countless numbers of times.

How would he do that?

Lost in all these hypotheticals is Brady's contract. If Brady was traded this year his cap number shot from 14 million to 27 million

The pats choose Brady over garrappolo two seasons ago when they extended Brady

What makes Jimmy G a sure thing to replace a GOAT type QB who is still playing at an MVP caliber level and as you said has a few good seasons left?

One guy is in his 20s with what seems to be a very good upside. Brady is north of 40. I mean the odds of keeping this up for 3 or 4 more years is heavily against him.
