Not really sure what effect this has or problem this solves.

I bet they back up this decision real quick if all the other conferences end up playing normally

With most conference games kicking off a few weeks into September, this just buys them more time to assess covid-19, right?

The risk of infection is the same. The only reason would be to limit the # of games while still being able to have a "real" season I guess.

That's what I'm thinking. It also allows you to coordinate your efforts with a smaller group of schools and one conference office.

Cuts a lot of travel, especially with the rent a wins that can't afford to test everyday

In reality this is just foreplay to lube us up for the eventual cancellation

Football won't be played this year. They're just pussyfooting around and waiting for a p5 conference to come out and say it. They'll slowly cut back on games and shite in the mean time.

I don't think the Big 10 makes this call without knowledge of the rest of the power 5 doing the same thing.

If we even get just in conference play that would be a huge W at this point

But I feel it more likely college athletics are about to crumble

Hopefully we can reschedule this, I was really looking forward to this.

On a side note, it's possible the next football game LSU plays is in the rose bowl. Which is cool I guess

Exactly, which is why the poster above who said the B1G would go back to their entire schedule if everyone else did is way off. The only way the B1G cancels these games is by contacting the other conferences.

OSU plays Oregon
PSU plays VT
Iowa plays Iowa St

Those are ones off the top of my head. That's already 3/4 of the other P5 conferences.

It's sad that a flu is going to cancel CFB.
