We already extended Strider.

Right, I'm saying you can respect an opinion about a ball player without calling people ignorant. But I am ignorant, so it's all good.

So why isn't Fried an ace in your eyes?

Again, selection bias, but it seems like every other game, we were talking about how fortunate he was to get into the 5th inning. I know his ERA, etc., was low but he had to grind and get great defensive help to get through a lot of games. Coupled with his post season woes, I can think of probably 10 pitchers I'd rather have at the top of our rotation, 4 of those being in our own division. Now, a lot of those guys are old, so long term I'd rather have Fried. But if we were just worried about the next couple of years, he'd be down the list.
We'll see what AA ends up doing. If he extends him long term with a huge contract, then I'll eat crow. But I don't think it's going to happen and there would be a reason for that.

His numbers beyond his ERA say otherwise.

It's a Mandela effect that fans of every team have with their best players. We are meticulously breaking down every little detail of dudes we watch everyday, while largely just getting easily digestible snapshots
of all of the other elite players around the league, most of which is positive. So anytime we see Fried struggle, we automatically assume that if we had another star pitcher from another team, we wouldn't be going through the same anguish.

Right, but I don't feel that way with Wright or Strider. Even if their numbers aren't as good. But again, I'm not putting them in the ace category either. He's supposed to be better. (Sorry Hot Carl for disrespecting your crush; but I fully believe he'll be a true ace one day).
And I've fully admitted to a bias. But I've seen too many guys just shove it up our butts which makes the bias even worse. And a lot of that has to do with our offense being so hit or miss. Again, I'm not wanting to get rid of Fried. I just think we need one other guy to be HIM. Especially come playoff time.

This year in particular, it's because our offense was so strike out heavy, but even then we beat up on some bona-fide aces.

Off the top of my head, Ohtani, deGrom and Scherzer.

True.

My second favorite time of the year. Hot Stove time! I'm ready.

Mark Bowman is speculating Dansby will return to the Braves for a lesser price. He thinks 6 years $123M. He's thinking Dansby will have larger offers but will take less to stay home.

That would be surprising, but fantastic.

That's right at $20.5MIL AAV. I'll take that any day of the week.

From Max's game logs this year, he went 6 or more innings 22 of 30 starts. He not once went less than 5. He gave up more than 2 ER in a start just 6 times. 3 of those 6 games he only gave up 3 ERs.

He was clearly not fully recovered from being very sick when it was time to start the postseason.

I'm not one to make excuses for guys but his three rough playoff starts everyone keeps mentioning are all very explainable. He was sicker than a dog this year, and he was tipping his pitches in the two last year.

Kid is a stud.

Also, why the frick is "Acuna" trending on twitter today? All I can find is random people tweeting that he is leaving but I can't find genesis of those tweets.

There was discussion on MLB network about Ronald's "ridiculous" contract and basically wants to renegotiate. Of course I am paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it

Matt Vasgersian suggested the Braves should trade him on MLB Network. That's probably why he's trending.

Vasgersian is a fool.

I love Guillermo Heredia. He doesn't provide much as a player but I'll miss shite like this:

That's a tough one. Which Tatis do we get; the one who is selfish and does dumb stuff or a repentant and determined one coming back from a PED suspension?
