This is like a murderer saying murder happens everyday and is a part of life. I should go free.

I mean, it's not wrong. All sports teams/athletes try and gain every advantage as possible (without getting caught)

There's also a 99.99% chance this tweet is sensationalized and the word "cheating" wasn't used

They're not wrong. Cheating has always been part of baseball culture. Whether it's stealing signs, wiping some shite on the ball, corking the bat or juicing yourself to the gills, it's part of the game.

Did they actually say verbatim that "cheating is a part of the game"?

No. This is like 29 other cars passing you up going 95 on the interstate, and then the cops pull you over and throw your arse in jail because you went 72.

Home and road stats are irrelevant. That doesn’t mean they didn’t cheat. It just means they sucked at it in many situations.

I get what you are saying and you are right, but in these instances when the players were the ones caught doing it they were punished.

The actual people who were caught cheating for Houston got off with a slap on the wrist.

Astros are basically saying any player that’s ever juiced and got caught and suspended shouldn’t have been punished for doing so.

MLB has protected the Houston players, but now that same team is saying any cheating in the game should not be punishable. I’m sure that will go well when those previous suspended players start suing using the same reasoning.

Jesus not at all. If I were the Astros defending these lawsuits, that would also be my defense. (Not an Astros fan btw)

ETA: They aren’t, to my knowledge, claiming they shouldn’t be subject to MLB punishment. I read this as they are denying they are liable for damages related to these lawsuits and frankly I agree with them in that regard
