Meh... They'll trade him away in a year or two and the Astros will still suck

Wasn't trolling... They always do that! They traded away pence and Bourn. I'm just fed up with the Astro's ways...

I don't think you understand the purpose here. You realize we got the #1 first baseman prospect in the league and Cosart, currently throwing a 0.93 ERA for Pence, right?

Prospects are fine and dandy... But eventually you have to WIN

Way to ruin the debate. Seriously, how many years until Houston is a playoff contender?

I dont understand how people can be so blind to what the astros are trying to do.They could have kept players like bourn and pence and been an average team or tear it all down stock the minors with talent get some high draft picks so that maybe one day they will have a world series contender again.World Series Champs 2016

2-3 seasons after this one. Jonathan Villar is 22. By then he'll be 25ish. He still needs to show that he can get on base at a regular clip, but if he does, he'll be a big piece in their runs at the playoffs.

They've already locked up Altuve. Singleton comes in at 1st. Villar/Correa/Ruiz/Deshields round out SS and 3B. Their infield should be pretty set in a few years.

The pitching in the minors is starting to really fill up. Cosart, Lyles, Foltynewicz, McCullers, Appel and possibly Carlos Rodon after this year will make a nice rotation.

They've actually done a pretty damn good job of stocking up their farm system after totally demolishing it back in 2005-2009. Average fans don't see this though, so they complain about trading off Pence and Bourne like they would have brought a World Series when they're 35.

No he stepped off the rubber

What he said

If he didn't step off the rubber and threw a strike before Villar made it to home(or hit Villar while he and the ball were in the strike zone), the inning would have been over since it was a 1-2 count with 2 outs.

Lets not sleep on Nolan Fontana at shortstop. Hes a fell of a defender and Correa could potentially slide over to third base. I also think DeShields will eventually be transitioned to the outfield. Something like this down the road.

C-Castro
1B-Singleton
2B-Altuve
SS-Villar (maybe Fontana)
3B-Correa
LF-DeShields
CF-Springer
RF-Santana
DH-Wallace (Maybe hes finally figuring it out, hes hit .280 with 7 bombs since coming up in July)

Starters:
Appel
McCullers
Foltynewicz
Cossart
Rodon

Also by the time these guys are coming up, Crane, Luhnow and company are going to be willing to spend some money on free agents to tie up the soft spots.

If he didnt step off the rubbber, he would have had to go through the entire windup or it would have been a balk.

I'm still not ready to say that Dominguez doesn't have a role on this team in the future. The guy is 23 and discovering some power. If his average improves over the next 2 years, we're gonna have to keep him around. Same thing with JD Martinez.

Gotta give some of these young guys already with the MLB club a chance to grow up.

There's a reason he was drafted in the 1st round. I was at the walk-off error game against the A's a few weeks ago and the bomb he hit to tie it up in the 9th was a smash. He's definitely got some pop in his bat.

My brother bought a Matt Dominguez jersey at the beginning of this year. Talk about taking a chance.
