Astros fans (minute maid park question)
Gonna take my two sons to 2 midweek games at minute maid park may 27th and 28th for a astros/cubs matchup. I havent been to an MLB game other than wrigley in quite a while.

The question is, what is the ticket market like? should I expect to pay less than face by waiting? I watched a bit of the astros/red sox game Sunday night and the lowers looked completely packed. The cubs are a big draw so I'm just trying to figure out when/where to pull the trigger on tix.

I know the climate of the NFL and NBA in regards to tickets but MLB not so much

Thanks

Normally I'd say wait until day of, but you're right about the Cubs being a big draw so you may want to hit Seatgeek in advance.

You can probably get a better deal if you buy outside of the stadium but I prefer the luxury of knowing I have tickets over the rush of a “good deal”

Week days get a good crowd and the cubs always pack the place with WGN types

27th is memorial day, right? I'd bet a larger than average crowd. I'd buy tickets online for that game. won't have any trouble getting cheap tickets for the game on Tuesday.

yes, I meant the 28th (tuesday) and 29th (wednesday)
I'd normally be ok buying outside the stadium but traveling with kids from BR means I need to have tix in hand to be safe

I sold non-opening day tickets for the Cubs vs Rangers for $250 a pop. These were in CF.

I would expect Astros tickets would be more than that but who the hell knows.

What’s wrong with that? If it weren’t for WGN I wouldn’t have cared or know about MLB on any significant basis.

They have tickets for around $25 for those Tuesday/Wednesday games.

Are they good seats? I’ve only ever sat in the press box and behind home plate at Minute Maid. Regardless, $25 is still great for someone like OP just looking to get through the door.

Especially to see two good teams play with a lot of star power.

Cubs draw very well here. LOTS of Cub fans. Tickets will be higher than normal. Get em earlier if you can.

At the entrance by the gift shop/home plate there is a tent on the street where season ticket holders re-sell their tickets. Very organized and safe and you can see where the seats are on a map

I was actually there for a game last week. Love the venue. It was a mid-week game and stadium was maybe 1/2 full, but it was vs the Twins. Got the cheapest tickets possible and was able to roam the stadium.

Have you checked the Astros own website? Many games hadn’t sold out as of a couple weeks ago, including the Memorial Day game.

Astros tickets have always been easy to get
Some of the more popular teams they play always brings out those teams fans in a city like Houston but even that doesn't send prices that much higher than you would pay any other game

I am taking my son to his first game on Memorial Day... first game of the Cubs/Astros series. I was able to get seats in right field lower bowl, near the Astros bullpen for about $70 each. I pulled the trigger on them because I am sure they will only go up as we get closer and people begin to realize they have that day off.

re: Astros fans (minute maid park question)
good suggestions....

I think my plan is to get tickets now for May 28th (in order to pick our desired seating) and just pay the going rate and then scour the open market a few hours before 1st pitch on May 29th and get in on the cheap.
