Well he got a concussion. No telling how long he'll be out for or what type of long term damage he might have....

Say what you want but he HAS ALWAYS and ALWAYS will act like a thug. This was proven yesterday.

Bottom Line is that he is a POS.

he may be a POS, but more than ~10 games would be too much. I think 5-7 would be perfect b/c it would just knock him out of the first round.

Somewhere Bill Laimbeer must be laughing at all this

Just a hypothetical, what if Harden had some broken bones, fricked up ear issues, and was out for the rest of the year? Should Artest still only get a couple of games?

Then you're back to a Kermit Washington or Todd Bertuzzi situation. People judge the result more than the initial attack. It Harden had a broken orbital bone or worse, then people would be taking a much different stance. I think a message needs to be sent to Artest that cheap shots like that can lead to a Rudy T situation and cannot be allowed. There is no way that Kermit or Todd thought they would be destroying someone's life when the dealt their punches. Things can go terribly wrong when you're sucker punching a defenseless player.

If this only warranted a 1 game suspension,

Then how can Artest get more than that?

Finally, a voice of reason.

Obviously, I was trolling a bit earlier, as I was making fun of the overreactions and false outrage over this situation.

Yes, dude should be suspended, but not for more than about 10 games. Unfortunately, when anything happens these days, people rush to try to be more outraged than the previous poster.

Can't argue that lol.

Though I do think Artest's was worse, and you have to factor in his past history, or at least the NBA will do so.

What do you mean 'just". You act like the nba should have pity on the Lakers or some shite.

well "just" 10 games compared to some of the people who are in here saying he should be kicked out of the L.

People won't remember this 10 years from now the way they remember malice in the palace. It was a shite play and he deserves to be punished, but it's already being drastically overblown

I agree for the most part but Ron has a history of getting upset or excited and popping people in the face. That one was nasty enough that it could have actually ended really badly. When I look at some of the serious injuries on cheap shots, this one had the formula for disaster. I do think 10 games is about right.

I'd be fine with 10 games. I'd also be fine with the entire playoffs.

But the point Rudy T situations happen because of cheap shots like this. I think you want to penalize the player enough so that they don't do this behavior again. A Kermit Washington or Bertuzzi situation is rare but the cheap shot is what created both injuries. Blount did a similar thing at Oregon and didn't break the guys jaw but killed his college career. These guys are too big to take a free shot on someone's head. Things can much much worse.

Then you had Bruce Bowen of all people criticizing Artest for the play. That's some extremely funny shite coming from a player who once dropped kick Wally Szcerbiak square in the face.

What did Bynum get?

I'm not so sure that Bynum's was more dangerous either.

I agree w/ your logic here but I think we're past htis point w/ Ron Artest. He just might not be capable of controlling himself, and I don't think you can kick him out of the league. I know the players union would have something to say bout it at the least.

And yeah Blount is a good comparison. He was like a crazed animal, just like indiana-detroit
