I remember a lot of male sideline reporters being famous ex-football players (O.J. Simpson, Eric Dickerson, Lynn Swann, etc..) and most of them were awful. It's always been a position based on who can attract the most eyeballs. And the attractive female reporters are much more competent than the ex-football players were.

I liked Karston. I remember one time he reported on a game from a blimp. But yeah, the days of Lynn Swan and Jack Arute on the sidelines of every big game are long gone.
