It's pretty frustrating only getting to play in fake money games online. If I could find a place to play in some decent tournaments I could deal with it though.

I've been playing on pokerstars, but it's extremely frustrating trying to play a tournament with 200 morons playing. It seems like I get screwed out of a good hand pretty early in every tournament I play.

My last two tournaments my exits came on:

-I had an AK suited hand. Come out with a pretty good sized raise preflop and get the pot down to 3 people. Flop comes A,5,7 (rainbow). Figure I should have the best hand at this point. Bet comes out, I raise but still get 2 other calls. Turn comes out as another low card, don't remember what it was. Person bets, I go all in. I get called by both people. River comes out 8. One idiot is in with a 6/9 and nails his striaght. The other has pocket 8s and gets trips. I lose the hand to both of the fools.

- Tournament 2, I am in the big blind with a trash 6/8 hand. Quite a few people are in. Flop comes up 6,6,J. I throw out a large bet and weed the players down to 2 or 3. Turn comes out with a K. I go all in and get called by someone who has J and some other trash card. Here comes the river jack, giving him a damn full house to beat me.

It's nearly impossible to play. In many other tournaments it's difficult because I'll play 10% of the hands, but end up losing big on crap hands like the two I just explained. Blinds rise so fast that you can't keep up after dropping 1 or 2 big hands. Another thing that annoys the crap out of me is that they keep taking late entries for 30 minutes, so a tournament that starts with 150 people ends up with over 300 as you continue playing.

Does anybody play on a decent site?

No one gives a flying shite about your losing poker hands or your excuses for being a shitty poker player that always loses.

you know that's pretty much always going to happen to you, esp in a tournament, right?

if you only play premium hands, you're only going to get dealt bad beats

most places still running real games i know of do this, along with rebuys

and to get to your question, depending on where you're at, America's Card Room or Ignition

It's the only chance you have playing with people who will call literally anything until the river. You can't really raise from a late position preflop and then continue it on the flop if you are guaranteed to get 3 calls from trash hands no matter what. I've tried to play like I would normally play, but you end up just donating half your chips to some of the players who will call anything no matter what and then beat you with their pair of 8s at the end.

Just like I don't give a shite about your reply. The simple solution would be not to reply to the thread. Then everybody wins.

all you can do is say "nice hand" and move on. their idiocy will come back to haunt them sooner or later. variance is also a big part of the game.

the software sucks balls (especially on a Mac) but I've had some luck on Ignition. Tournaments are juicy, payouts are relatively quick and the action is overall pretty good

variance is a bitch

increasing that exponentially by playing tournaments makes it an even bigger bitch

I refuse to play online ever again. People use programs to track betting tendencies for other players. That's a disadvantage I refuse to go against. I miss playing online, but it's not worth it at this point. If you want consistent poker play and tournaments, move to Vegas.

just fwiw, ignition is anonymous so you can't really use HUDs

now are you playing bots? you're goddamn right you are. but bots are exploitable

however, i doubt seriously that bots are playing tournaments

Really miss the good old days of poker with Partypoker, Full Tilt and Pokerstars at full strength.

Idiot politicians won't let people do what they want with their own money.

Sweet. How is that legal? I didn't think it was possible to do in the U.S

I found the play money tournaments. Might have to jump into some small cash games to check it out though.

it's not legal

but i doubt the feds will crack down on users. whomever is running tat site may have a crack down from the feds one day, though (even abroad)

oh it is. ACR is pretty popular and much bigger than ignition, but ACR is illegal in states that cracked down on DFS (so you can't play in LA, for example). there is a lot of grey area and alleged loopholes in online poker

you even have sites like Stars that run cash games within certain states, so like Nevada has one, but you only play against people in Nevada. i believe Jersey has that too. they're allegedly legal b/c they limit the participants to the borders of the state. there is a push with the NJ model to open it up across state lines for other area states that legalize it

i honestly don't think that logic is sound, but it's the governments of these states making these moves (not crackpot online legal "experts")

If you think you're playing with morons but never winning money...

If you can't make money in the long run against players who play like that...

You can't play 10% of your hands then complain about the blinds getting the best of you. Blinds go quickly online. You have to be very aggressive early on, and yes, there will be lots of variance. You'll get knocked out very early here and there, that happens. But if you play it correctly, you should also get some pretty big stacks early on here and there, which will allow you to bully the table and(if you choose to) coast into the money.

Once you get over the "woe is me" thing where you feel like you have the worst luck ever and everyone else has the best luck ever, then you can figure out how to do a little better .

Exactly.

And if not, you just have to realize(and I don't say this to be an a-hole) your current game is just not really good, and you have to figure out how to get better.

If you can't consistently beat the donks, you are one of the donks.
