I mean it stands to reason that people that actually attended college, especially at a big school, would gravitate toward college.
People who didn't go to college trend toward their hometown team.
In general people who went to college are more educated and less trashy than those who didn't.
So to summarize yes NFL fans are far less intelligent and far more trashier than most college fans. This plays itself out every week in upper decks and parking lots across the the country.

And this week, TD posted approximately 4 fights at CFB games. One of which involved a CFB fan hitting a woman.

While I tend to agree with a lot of this...the cult-like aspects of college fanbases scare me.

Bama is the outlier. They are NFL level trash.

Penn State was the worst with its cult. A good chunk of those fans are evil.

Bama has always been the Raiders fanbase of college.
Fights are tame for the Bama fanbase. Millions of dollars in property damage, sexual assault, and murder... that's Bama fans for you.
Even in the early 2000s when Bama sucked there was more than one case of attempted murder by Bama fans. There was the father that got drunk and shot at his son after Bama lost, luckily the gun jammed. I remember a middle aged drunk Bama redneck fan stabbed an Auburn frat boy in the lawn of his frat house after Auburn won the Iron Bowl one year.
Bama fans are the trashiest fanbase in all of football. But overall, NFL is far more trashy. Like you said, Bama is an outlier in the world of college athletics, but that type of behavior is closer to normal in professional sports.
LSU, UGA, Clemson, and WVU are some other fanbases I've run across that are also pretty trashy, but not as bad as many NFL fanbases. Most college fanbases are very welcoming to visiting opposing fans and in general classy towards one another.
A lot of college fanbases actually take pride in being hospitable and welcoming towards visitors. I know Auburn does, as well as several SEC, ACC, and Big Ten schools I've visited.
