Betances didn't throw at him intentionally but since the original brawl the home plate ump is telling all new pitchers that anything close is going to be an ejection.

Not sure there was intent but that was a 98mph four seamer, not a curveball.

In their defense it's not like boxing or hockey where 2 guys are squared up for a couple of minutes. In baseball they get one shot, 2 if they're lucky, before being tackled or separated by the umpire or the 50 guys closing in from both directions.

Should have never happened the umpires caused this. Sanchez has been red hot the Tigers threw one to his ribs to back him off the plate as they should. The umps didn't issue any warnings. Kahnle threw one at Cabrera to protect his guy as he should. The umps should have issued warnings at this point and play ball. Instead they eject Kahnle and Girardi and the arguing ensued. Had they issued warnings after throwing at Cabrera I don't think the fight happens. Cabrera can't make solid contact with anything this year including Romines face.

Thought I saw Betances doing the curveball motion with his hand after the pitch saying it wasn't on purpose. Don't have the volume on in my office to hear what's going on.
But the home plate ump isn't the one who ejected him. Which is why the Det bench lost their shite. The 1st base ump (according to the MLB game track) is the one who came in and said yeah you have to go.
Either way, the home plate ump caused one brawl and almost another by not being able to handle the situation.

Judge doesn't strike me as the fighting type. I think I'd rather fight him than Gary Sanchez. Dude is big and always has a chip on his shoulder.
