Notre Dame deserves to be in the Playoffs. I'm fine with that. I'm also perfectly fine with their schedule. While their opponents weren't that good at all this year, it was still impressive on paper from a pre-season standpoint (USC, Florida State, Michigan, Virginia Tech, and Stanford).

However, does anyone really think they'll do anything in the Playoffs? You can pick any opponent: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, or Ohio State and I can't see Notre Dame keeping it within a two or three touchdown game. Their best win (Michigan) doesn't look so hot anymore and they've really had some close games against some not so good teams (Pitt, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Ball State).

Is the general consensus that they are the weakest team in the Playoffs or do any of you actually think they can keep it interesting and possibly win a game?

I don't think they're very good but as OP said that deserve to be there.

They don't trigger me and I'm glad they are in it - as they deserve to be. However, I just don't think they are that good.

They deserve to be in, but any team they play is gonna expose the flaws with their roster and coaching.

Sure they deserve to be in but IMO have less than a 5% chance to beat any of the other three, whoever they are.

They deserve to be in and shouldn't be any debate about about that.

But if the goal is to get the "four best teams" then they should be seeded accordingly and any objective analysis (at this point) would have them as the fourth best so that's where they should be seeded.

Notre Dame is solid all around

No glaring weaknesses like many teams you mentioned.

Bama is far above them but besides that, i like thier chances

I hope we get ND vs OU so we can watch Murray embarrass them

Notre Dame beat every team on their schedule so they are obviously deserving of the playoffs. But this is about who the best four teams are, not who the most deserving four teams are.

Do any of us honestly think Notre Dame could beat Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State or Oklahoma?

They could probably beat Georgia or tOSU. They’ll get nuked by Clemson or Bama

Why can't they? Maybe not bama, but let's not act like those other teams are unbeatable. I wonder if you had asked this about OSU yesterday before the game?

Notre Dame is a B+ team playing a B schedule. The other teams are A- or better.

Because they don't have the fire power or the talent of the other teams. The game is changing. If you want to win a national championship, your offense needs to show that its capable of being explosive.

I do wonder if OSU/OU end up the 3 seed ahead of ND.

ND is for sure getting in. I don't think they could leave them out.

LSU beat Georgia and Purdue beat tOSU. Your argument is invalid.
