I think a North-South split would've been better while bending the borders slightly like the SEC did for Mizzou:

SOUTH:

Rutgers
Maryland
PSU
OSU
Purdue
Indiana
nebraska

NORTH:

Iowa
Minnesota
Mich
Illinois
MSU
Wisky
Northwestern

I think this is far more balanced. If OSU and MIch rematch, then so be it. It'd be a great dramatic match up with possibly higher ratings than the SECChampionship.

Yea, just LOL at the cyclical claims.

Ohio State & UM have dominated for the majority of the past couple decades and that shows no signs of changing.

What do you have against Minnesota Mr. Peej. They're third all time in Big Ten Championships.

It's all cyclical right?

It really isn't. It's no coincidence Oregon became good. It's no coincidence the entire SEC became good. It's all about spending money on the program and being near recruits. Some teams can rattle off a good year with some incredible athletes, but it doesn't last.

So, while it is cyclical that some teams who spend money and are near recruits go up and down, Minny being shitty is not cyclical due to lack of recruits available. MSU and UK never winning in the SEC isn't cyclical. Less money spent on football and less recruits available. It's all logical.

yes, but he isn't coaching.

Just as Iowa and Nebraska and Minnesota will.

Iowa and Minny haven't competed for titles in a long fricking time and they wont' anytime soon unless a major population shift happens.

Nebraska might due to facilities and the history and money spent, but they won't be consistent.

Because they aren't all going after the same exact kids.

neither are UM, osu, and PSU. They each have their own base, but do compete over Ohio kids. Same as GA, FL, bama, and SC have their own state but compete over FL and GA kids.

think you're underestimating the impact that the truckloads of money from the Big Ten will have on Rutgers and Maryland and their recruiting efforts.

Rutgers doesn't have the fanbase or the willingness to spend the same $ as PSU does.

Maryland is poor as frick. Sure, the B1G money helps, but PSU gets that money too. Maryland can simply not afford to spend the money on facilities that PSU does.

Let's not forget PSU's accomplishments too. They could've been right up there with their facilities and recruiting base. They just had Joe Pa hold the program fricking hostage since recruits didn't know when he was going to die.

I'm just saying it's incredibly foolish to say OSU and Michigan are the only teams competing for a championship year in and year out when in fact history has proven otherwise.

Dude, if you haven't noticed.....they let black people play now. Minny is done ever competing for a championship.

in the past 20 years history has proven that Mich, OSU, and PSU are the class of the B1g when it comes to talent. Also, when you look at recruits near them and facilities, it's kind of silly to put them in the same division IMO.

Minnesota seems like satire.

FWIW I think there's an impression among Big Ten fans that they have more parity than they do because they've had a bad system of declaring conference championships where multiple teams ended up with some sort of claim at season's end. When you look past the schedule problems and see which programs are winning undisputed conference championships the chaff is removed from the wheat

Now that they have a system of declaring a single conference championship a lot of that silliness should disappear

Agreed. and sense they've implemented the new system how many titles does Michigan and OSU have?

I get y'alls point but just realize there is more to the Big Ten than just OSU and Michigan.

we know there are other teams but we don't care enough to obsess about them because they don't win national championships. Heck between Michigan and tOSU they only have a combined 2 NCs in more than 40 years (or a combined 80 plus years of opportunity if you like).

The response from some Big Ten fans will undoubtedly be that this is unfair and myopic but its really no more myopic than Big Ten fans tend to be about other conferences. After all I don't hear Big Ten fans talking up the ACC but current ACC teams have something like 8 NCs since the 80s
