After the first weekend of March Madness, why continue with late time slots?

The first Thur-Sun I get, you've got a ton of games and having them wall to wall for 4 days is badass. But now as we approach the second Thur-Sun, they still have games starting at 9:45/10:15. Why? That's late as hell on a weeknight to be starting a basketball game. I understand they want to spread it out and have 4 days of basketball instead of 2, but wouldn't it make things easier on the viewing public to just condense this weekend to Saturday/Sunday and have them start at noon and go all day?

I'm no spring chicken anymore but I'm not THAT old, but unless my team is playing I simply have no interest in staying up til midnight during the week to watch a game.

I assume that the late starts have to do with games being played on the west coast.

And they likely don't want teams playing back to back days. That's not common in CBB outside conference tournaments.

So you want teams to play back to back days? Id rather give them a days rest to prepare.

crap, didn't even think about that.

My issue was more so with the start times instead of the 4 days vs 2. In the opening weekend they have games during the work day starting at noon, I guess I was asking why they couldn't move them into the workday this round as well.

I'm guessing you are in the Eastern Time zone? Xavier v Arizona starts at 717 where the game is being played. Starting it earlier would make it harder for the people out there to go / watch the game not to mention interfere with afternoon traffic.

I took off work last Friday so I could watch basketball. Pretty happy I don't have to do that again. They are bigger games, there are less of them, so it seems like a pretty good idea to have them after people get off work.

The tv schedule last weekend was awful. On Saturday and Sunday, you only had 2 of 8 games completed by 4:00 PM. That meant that the final games of the evening were starting around 9:30 CST. People on the East coast, and people in the CST aren't staying up that late on a Sunday night to watch these games.

Spread them out more evenly throughout the day.

It is the way it is now.

Hell, the football national championship game didn't start until nearly 9PM ET. That is absolutely insane for a 3+ hour game.

You can thank CBS for that... There must be something in the NCAA tv deal that lets CBS have three games on their own on the 1st weekend... If you look, They were the only network showing games until like 6 ET....... As far as this week. Its all about TV ratings and if they show games during working hours you have less people in the stands and less people watching...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That's the funny thing about Turner networks joining the broadcast. We as fans got what we wanted -- the ability to watch every game. The problem is, you're kind of sick of games by Sunday night and it destroyed the excitement of overlap we used to get where CBS could just swing it to the exciting games when others were bad.

Because CBS thinks people will throw a shite fit if Duke, UCLA and Kentucky don't play in front of a captive national audience.

Some of you mofos are flat retarded I swear

Should they have started it at 7EST and had half of their viewership in drive home work traffic for the game?

Use your brains guys.

Kentucky vs West Virginia is a 9:45 ET tip off.

In Cleveland.

Makes no sense.

If they're going to start it that late, put it on a Saturday.

Because way more people will watch them if they aren't in work hours.

It does from a ratings standpoint, UK is the big ticket and they want a NATIONAL (incl. west coast) audience.
