Yeah, MJ struggled to get to the finals his first few years, but once he got there he was never swept again.

He wasn’t considered by his peers to be a GOAT candidate until after his first finals win. Once GOAT status was achieved he never came close to being swept. No matter how hungover he was, no matter who was injured on his team, no matter how many times the Knicks tried to intentionally injure him.

Lebron is 3 of 9 in finals. 2 for 8 since achieving GOAT candidate status.

He may be the most physically talented person to ever lace em up, but he’ll never be the competitor, winner, and leader that MJ was.

I don’t know for sure if he would’ve been able to beat this Warriors team, but I guarantee Jordan wouldn’t have allowed someone to be on the floor that didn’t know the score/situation in crunch time of game 1. Jordan had his guys prepared

what was the caliber of any of the teams Jordan went up against in the finals? That’s all that really matters in these debates. GSW are an all time great super tram right now, they would sweep a ton of historical teams

When you're facing inferior teams (inferior relative to past Finals participants), you can play the games hungover and still win without difficulty.

If he pulled that crap vs the SAS he'd lose, forget about GSW.

He had to beat them to get to the finals. The Pistons, Knicks, Celtics and Pacers were brutal and filled with Hall of Famers

Most of the teams MJ beat had better records than the warriors.

None of Jordan's finals opponents had higher net ratings than James'.

True litmus test, like you said, is the caliber of the opponent. Swap the two and see if any matchups are likely to change. MJ likely has a worse or the same Finals record as James if all things are equal.

That’s an absolutely insane statement. You don’t know much about the 90’s Knicks and Pacers, do you?

Not insane at all. That's another thing. Pop, Kerr, and even Carlisle aren't letting 6'6" MJ dictate anything vs. their Finals squads.

I guarantee you that Jordan, Bosh, and Wade wouldn’t have lost to the Mavericks.

He would’ve shot the ball more than 13 times and put up more than 23 points lol

I guess Pat Riley, Chuck Daly, and Larry Brown must not have known how to coach.

Maybe.

People forget just how well that Mavs team gelled, though. And MJ never faced a big like Dirk.

How many garbage teams did my take to the finals? ZERO. All the arguments you brilliant people make are about teams and not individuals. Ledouche is bigger, stronger, and faster. Only idiotic, mental slaves are unwilling to accept ledouche is better.

Never said that.

Funny you mention Brown--one of the coaches Pop defeated in a Finals head to head.

He had Pippen for the first 3. Everyone else was a role player.

For the second 3, he added an aging Dennis Rodman that couldn’t score and a clumsy European. Those teams weren’t as loaded as everyone claims they were.
