I have been saying the writing is on the wall for the NFL and have been waiting for this new league.

Can you even be more delusional?
NFL is coming off record revenues and TV ratings
have also bounced back.

The NFL is also the most successful pro sports league in the history of pro sports and you think a start up league with NFL rejects will give them a "run for their money"

Bull shite.

If the owners wanted, there'd still be an NFL Europe.

shite...the goddamned WNBA still exists for Christ's sake.

Yeah, they had games on NFL Network yesterday. This is basically the G League for the NFL, not a competitor.

Also, the better the AAF does, the more the XFL gets crushed.

I am here to state my facts what is going to happen, not to ask your slow moronic opinions what might happen.

Not Going to happen. The league has no teams in the Midwest or Northeast. Surrendering Chicago, NYC, DC, Ohio, PA, Maryland, NJ, Minnesota, Missouri, and etc. is not a formula for success.

I would rather watch the AAF than the NBA or MLB.

I think there are enough like me to keep the league in business.

But in no way will they challenge the NFL.

The XFL does. If spring football pans out, you will see these two meet in a championship game. Similar to the old NFC/AFC.

re: AAF is capitalism at its greatest!!
It is capitalism at its finest, but not for the reasons the OP thinks. There's demand for football, and a spring league could fill that demand so long as it keeps its goals (and expenses) reasonable. This is a lot like what the USFL looked like before it lost its marbles: teams with regional rosters and modest payrolls. Maybe a few guys who could find their way to the back of an NFL roster, but clearly a second tier league. Still, some fun ideas and quality play (especially if they keep up the pace of play).

There's a niche being served. Also, the NFL, which is underwriting this league, got it to market before the XFL. It's going to be that much harder for the XFL to gain a foothold, though it will probably make a stab at NFL-ineligible college players (though I think the AAF could do the same, if they limit it to JUCO guys who didn't make the grades in college... if you failed out at school, would you rather go to nowhere Mississippi or maybe play for a former NFL coach in a developmental league?)

Why would they want to keep flushing money down the drain?
NFL Europe could'nt support itself and there was no reason to keep it going.

No they arent'.

Where do guys come up with this?

quote:

There’s no investment,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told PFT via email, in response to the question of whether the league or any owners have invested in the AAF. “It’s a programming partnership with the AAF.” The NFL sees a clear benefit in broadcasting 19 AAF games this season. “The AAF provides another opportunity for players, coaches, officials, personnel people to get valuable experience,” McCarthy said. “The AAF, and also the XFL, demonstrate the strength of the game and the health of football as entertainment. They reflect substantial investments and major commitments by serious and credible football and business
