John Coppolella, who resigned as the Braves’ general manager last month (Oct 17) amid the league investigation, joins Pete Rose (betting scandal), former St. Louis Cardinals scouting director Chris Correa (hacking scandal) and former New York Mets pitcher Jenrry Mejia (three violations of drug policy) on baseball’s permanently ineligible list.

Coppy’s cheating (doing shady shite with international free agents) wasn’t really anything that any other team in MLB wasn’t doing. Just seemed like he didn’t cooperate with the league and everyone hated him.
Either way, him getting fired/banned for life is the best thing to happen to the Braves organization in awhile.

He drafted Riley, Soroka, Anderson, traded for Fried and Swanson, and also made the Upton/Kimbrel deal that would end up netting both Riley and Soroka in the same draft.
He's a big reason the Braves are where they are. The only reason he got banned is b/c he had no tact around other GM's(as well as absolutely arse-raping some in deals) so they got their panties in a wad. What he did on a grand scale really is on par with what the Sox or even the Astros did.
