So the "second place" team has 3 losses? That doesn't add up.

The loser of the CHAMPIONSHIP game is 2nd place

This isn't complicated

Well the "third place team" lost in a much closer game than the " first place team" did to the same "second place team" in the same stadium.

Divisions are stupid...

Divisions exist in virtually every sport.

One time. A 9-7 team won a super bowl!!

What other sports have a committee pick their playoff teams?

And the divisions statement isn't true. Soccer has every team in the league play every other team in the league home and away and best overall results crowns the champion which is argue is BY far the best way of determining a champion ...but this isn't a debate about that.

They're never going to get college football right until the only way in to the playoffs is to earn it

Get rid of all "eye test" shite and construct a real method where when the season is over, even the donut fry cooks know whose in

It works for literally every other sport on the planet

Uh, every other NCAA sport. How do you think At-large teams are selected?

8 team playoff

5 power 5 conferences in
3 wild card sports picked by a committee

Note: college baseball and college basketball also have a committee. to many teams in college to not have a selection process by committee members. But winning your conference should mean something, especially if they pass Ohio State for Bama this year. That's two straight years a conference champ in the top 10 gets left out.

actually the rankings will determine the peaking order for bowl slots. Bama, if not in the CFP, will get the highest pecking order for bowl games. Bama has the best overall ranking after the regular seasons.

Also you are saying if an 8-4 east teams loses to an undefeated 12-0 Bama team in the SECCG then that loser is the second best team when say AU has an 11-1 record?

That's what I'm saying. It's not easy have a hard and fast criteria for such a big and diverse pool of teams. Where everyone knows who is getting in before the deliberation.

Well. The 8-4 team is in first, correct? They get the trophy. So yeah. That's how CHAMPIONSHIP games work.
