After a turbulent spring, college football looks more likely by the day. And that moment is approaching quickly. We’ve already cleared the 100-day mark ahead of the college football season, which makes this an ideal time to examine 247Sports’ preseason Top 25.

This isn’t an updated version of something 247Sports put out in the winter. This is a start-from-ground-zero ranking that takes into account an offseason worth of coaching changes, recruiting wins and transfers.
247Sports polled eight of its national experts and had them rank their preseason Top 25. What you’ll find below is an aggregate of our vote.

A few notes before we get started: The returning production data is courtesy of ESPN’s Bill Connelly – it’s the best metric out there to measure just how much a program loses in one offseason – and was published in February. Any returning starter stats mentioned come from Phil Steele’s spring preview guide.

Really interested to see if Oregon can go back to being true contenders. They have some talent on that team. Game against Ohio State will tell us a lot.

Because we return a lot back, have a much easier schedule, and have had strong recruiting classes

I don’t think LSU will be anywhere near what we were last year. That was a buzz saw. I do think we’d absolutely house Notre dame and penn state.

Have you seen their schedule? They have a legit chance of being 10-0 when they head to Tuscaloosa in late November.

It’s easily the most talented team on paper. I saw that 64% of the roster is a four star by one of the recruiting services and nearing the 50% mythical benchmark on the composite.

The defense will be legit. We need a new qb and inexperienced oline to play beyond their years to beat OSU though. We also can’t look past NDSU.

I'll give Oregon respect. They've had some legit OOC slates under Cristobal. Auburn last year, Ohio State coming. Georgia, BYU, Ok. St. and Boise State in the next few years.

Cristobal has really built their base of talent. I'm interested to see how he does coaching it.
