Carl Lewis wins gold in Atlanta, beating Powell who only beat Lewis once at a major meet. He also had won the 100 twice, the 200 twice along with a silver, won the 4x1 twice.
The only time in World Championships he did not win gold was Tokyo when Powell beat him and a Bronze in Stuttgart where he won bronze in 200.

Uhh no. Michael Johnson is nowhere near to the class of Lewis. Lewis was named Sportsman of the Century by the IOC in 99 and Athlete of the Century by the IAAF in 2000 which Johnson was done competing by then.

It’s wild that elite sprinters used to do so many other events back in the day.
I still Love Jessie Owens going into fricking Munich and putting on a show for the “master race”

Come on man, you know Bolt is the best, dude could do 100, 200, 400 and if he did long jump, he'd probably dominate there too!

Do I? Do you? I mean we saw what Lewis did, we can only speculate on what Bolt could possibly do.

True, but it's not difficult to imagine he'd be elite there too.

Lol you can't possibly expect someone to take the rest of your opinion seriously. Step back from your feelings and realize how ridiculous that quote is.

Yes, I saw what both did and Bolt COMPLETELY shattered the 100 and 200 meter WR's and was pretty good at the 400 as well.
Bolt is the only sprinter to win Olympic 100 m and 200 m titles at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012 and 2016).
Carl Lewis is a legend, but my opinion is that Bolt surpassed him.

Bolt would blow past Lewis in any event...... Lewis was great but not as good as Bolt.

He's also the GOAT of National Anthem singers.

That was great. When ESPN and Sportscenter itself was great.
Johnson was great and Bolt, hypothetically, is probably a greater athlete and talent but none have the resume of Lewis. Since when in these discussions is resume to be ignored? Jordan/LeBron, Brady/any other qb, Smith/Sanders. Projecting and resume are 2 entirely different standards.

Bolt is the second most impressive athlete of the past 25 years after Tiger Woods IMO. Winning three consecutive gold medals at both the 100 and 200 is just unfathomable due to the competition. Think about it. There are a lot of countries where basketball or baseball or cricket isn't played. Even soccer has a lot of countries where it's not a popular participation sport. Every country has people who run whether it's for fun or need or competition and every country has people who dream about being the fastest man on earth. Plus it's a sport with no room for error. You get off to a bad start or you have a stumble and you're going to lose. It's just incredibly difficult to be dominant and sustain dominance as a sprinter and for Bolt to do it for a decade just defies belief. We'll never see a sprinter like him again.

I got to meet Carl Lewis and shake his hand when U of H was recruiting me. He was taller and more muscular than I expected. As for Carl vs. Bolt, of course Bolt is faster. But Carl was as dominant in his era as Bolt was plus Carl had long jump golds in 4 consecutive olympics and was undefeated in the LJ over a 10 year period.

He wanted Beamon's record SOOOO bad. I remember watching the 1991 Worlds live, it was in Tokyo so the feed was in the middle of the night. I was convinced he would break the record, the record did get broken but it was Powell that broke it and it still stands today. There is a young Cuban jumper that may break it in the next few years.
