Completely dumb question.

Do all tires have to be the same?

I.e., could you use mediums for front and softs for rear?

Yes, have to change the complete set of same compound.

Yes. Have to be the same. Also have to all be the matched from the beginning. Cant mix and match different age tires.

Also can't rotate tires any longer.

Most pitted with 50 laps left. Which means all of them have to pit on the exact same lap to do just one more stop. Interesting that we know exactly when they will pit next.

All the same compound, and each is a set of 4 that can't be mix and matched within that compound, if that makes sense. I.e. two tires from medium set #1 can't be used with two tires from medium set #2.

Yes, but Mclaren has to pit twice now to their once along with falling mid pack

The only way this works out for McLaren is if they get a safety car between now and lap 25 or between lap 33 and 50.

Or if they can burn their tires while everyone else has to baby them.

I assume everyone has a set of new tires left. If not they cant pull it off.

But even then, they weill come out mid pack and have to fight all the way back through.
