Results

Update: Bumping this for the voting results tomorrow. Looks like this will be a blank year, which is INSANE considering the list of players on the ballot. Next year will be a mess adding Arod, Ortiz, Hunter and Tex

538 article on why we likely won't see any inductees

Ryan Thibodaux's tracker

Official Ballot released today

Interesting ballot this year, I don't see anyone who is a slam dunk to get in this year, I could see it being an empty year, depends on how many people hate Curt Schilling.

For first year players, we have a couple of "accumulators" in Buehrle and Hudson. Very good careers but never dominant. Buehrle just being a innings machine, posting 200+ IP every full season of his career except his final where he got 198.2. Hudson had higher highs with 4 top 6 Cy Young finishes. Unfortunately, half his career WAR came in his 6 seasons in Oakland, and then only had 2 more seasons of 4+ WAR.

Returning players is a smattering of steroid era and borderline players(7 players with between 55-62 WAR). Lots of room for debate with those guys.

So now onto my annual Scot Rolen soapbox moment. Put the fricker in the HOF already. He's a top 10 player all-time at his position, Top 5 defensively, if not top 3.

Wagner should get in

Other than that no slam dunks and of course you have all the steroid players as well

Wait until you have to try and find suitable candidates from today's analytical players - it's going to be hard

Starters are getting pulled as bullpens have taken over the game - harder to pile up wins

Position players will have some mundane stats compared to former players. You will have some slam dunk players like Trout and Harper who likely will never win a title and a Mookie Betts type player.

No it won't, because you will have writers versed in analytics making those decisions.

Good thing there are plenty of other stats to look at.

Harper is no slam dunk. What stats will be mundane?

Clemens and Bonds have to go in. If the writers were honest with themselves they would not have elected multiple people to hall.

I am torn on Rolen, he is Biggio to me. He was not somebody you stopped to watch a game for. He was good to great, but not hey plan your evening around to watch. To me that is the mark of a HoF player.

Yes, because when I think "Hall of Fame", the first names that come to my mind are Shane Victorino and LaTroy Hawkins

Harper is no slam dunk

He probably shouldn’t be, but he’ll get in easily on the first ballot if he stays healthy

Maybe not first ballot but Buehrle should get in. World Series champ, win and a save in the series. Perfect game and a no hitter. 4 Gold Gloves.

The slam dunk plahyers right now playing that will be in HoF, in my ignorant opinion:

Trout
Kershaw
Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
Verlander
Grienke
Hernandez
Scherzer

Then you get into arguments for guys like
Chapman
Bregman
Lester
Cruz

Bregman has a long way to go plus the voters are going to hammer the ones affected by the Astros scandal

Quite the enigma, only person putting up 4 WAR seasons in their prime then putting up a negative 1+ WAR season the next. Had no business playing 3rd base.

Well that's a shitty method of judging if people are on of the best every in their chosen sport.

Vizquel should be in. Best defensive infielder in the history of the game.

Cano is a lock
Votto is a lock

Felix is the only one of that group I don't think gets in. He was really good for only a 7 year stretch, and even then it wasn't GREAT

Bregman is the only one who has a chance IMO

I think the players who are a likely lock to get in who wouldn't be in today if their careers were over are

Mookie
Machado
Arenado
