Giovanny Gallegos for Cy Young.

(seriously though he leads all of baseball with a 0.75 WHIP and .216 OBP, 1st in NL all pitchers .158 avg against just ahead of Hader)

Not sure it gets much better.

Tell me about this bullpen thing you speak of

I'm with ya man...Cubs have just not been able to find consistency. Kintzler was, then he got hurt and Joe puts him in a high leverage situation his first day off IR. Typical Joe...clueless on managing a pitching staff.

And Ross and Wick have nasty stuff, they have potential, but leverage situations are new to them. Strop is only throwing 92-93 on his fastball...something's wrong with him physically.

And Kimbrel....you could see the looks in the dugout the other night. Uh-Oh! His fastball is getting crushed so often, sometimes he'll just quit throwing it. I'm afraid the Cubs are stuck with a one time dominant closer who isn't that anymore but they keep having to put him in that situation because they invested so much.

Bader recalled after homering in 7 of 9 with a 9 game hitting streak. Arozarena sent back down.

This is merely coincidental. He was called up so that he'd be in St Louis and not Memphis for his bobblehead night at Busch.

I'm glad he's hitting like he's hitting though.

Lol come on man. He's the best defensive outfielder they have. If he hits anything like he has the last couple weeks in Memphis, he's more helpful to the Cardinals than the Redbirds. Maybe now they'll quit putting infielders in the outfield. Also, Arozarena needs to get the consistent ABs.

As much as I respect Carpenter for how hard he grinds and for what he's done. Edman needs to be starting at 3rd while he's hitting.

They didn't need to bring up Bader to stop putting infielders in the outfield. Arozarena could have been getting consistent ABs in the majors, but some weird desire to put a .200 hitter with a wet noodle arm at 3rd base has kept him out of the lineup.

This Nick Castellanos guy is starting to grow on me. I like him.

Wish he could pitch out of the bullpen though.

Pitching continues to be the Achilles heel of Joe Maddon since he's been here.

He is just as stubborn as his predecessors. LaRussa and Matheny loved to ride or die with their veterans. There is no way Wong should be hitting that low.

Yeah no kidding, oh well.

9-4 final and that's a series win over the Brewers.

Cishek has been a good reliever for a long time. he is no longer that, I would say he's regressed to average/mediocre. I do like the way Ryan and Wick are coming around though....especially Wick.

Kimbrel finally pitched a clean inning, but I would not say it was impressive. The last out was a fly to the track in center.
