What a slow painful death we are witnessing. Can’t wait for a shake up this offseason. Whatever it may be.

Yeah, I almost wish we don't make the playoffs so we can get more juice behind the shakeup that's needed. I love Joe, but it's time to go.

He was never a good game manager, but the other stuff that was his strength, long term team building...ain't working no more.

Whatever the hell makes him think Cishek has any business pitching in a leverage situation is beyond me. Those days are done.

And the entitlement and underachievement of many of the veteran players if very frustrating, and there's no accountability for it.

Lester is cleary on decline, and after his injury it appears maybe Hamels is too so you have two veteran starters that really need to be replaced.

The pen is a mess. Lot's of problems and something significant needs to be done after this season is over.

Pull the plug/cut the cord/throw the towel, whatever needs to be done to get these guys off the field sooner needs to be done. The have nothing and will get smashed in a wild card game.

Our best player is a Detroit Tigers castoff. I pray that Theo/Jed get let go with the rest of the coaching staff and half the players. He’s a bad GM and the Red Sox have thrived since removing that waste of space.

I get this feeling I can't shake that since the 2016 World Series, Tom Ricketts is turning into P.K. Wrigley.

So long as people keep showing up to the ballpark, he couldn't give a shite about winning. Look at this past offseason for example. Every other team in the NL Central improves but the Cubs.

Cards have a 4 lead on the Brewers and Cubs with 16 to go. St Louis doesn't play anyone under .500 whereas the other 2 have a bunch. Could be interesting

Goldy with a grand slam and 3 run homer tonight.

10-0 F over the Brewers.

If Cards go 8-7 rest of way

Cubs need 12-3 to tie
Brewers need 12-2 to tie.

Sadly, I agree. A sense of entitlement set in after the WS title. yeah, the Cubs won 92 and 95 games in subsequent years, but the underachievement to those who watched regularly was obvious.

This year has been brutal. In 2016 the Cubs had the best defense in baseball, now it is among the worst costing the Cubs several games. Mindless baserunning has cost them another 4 or 5 at least this year.

There is still a lot of talent, the only reason they are still alive for a wild card spot, But the inconsistency is maddening and Joe has to be the worst manager at handling a pitching staff I've ever seen.

Been real hard to watch this year. Blow it up and re-tool for the future, including with a new manager who will demand some accountability.

17-8 on Friday,
14-1 yesterday,
it's now 15-6 going into the top of the 8th.

I mean it's nice outscoring the Pirates 46-15 so far during the weekend but kinda wish we could bank some of those runs. Could come in handy later next weekend.

eta: LOL and the Brewers just tacked on 4 runs in the top of the 9th.

second edit: Oh shite Braun hit a grand salami! I may hate that SOB but having him silence the BFIB, I love that bug eyed steroid taking freak.
frick the Cardinals

Well that sucked.

Oh well, the Cardinals do better when they barely get in.

What a game for your closer to have the flu and not even be at the stadium.

I would guess that means not available tomorrow either.

I feel outstanding, stupendous in fact.

Man, ya'll have a hungry Nats team coming into town with a two game lead. It'd be a shame something would happen to it before coming into Wrigley next weekend.

That was a rough week. So Gant is mortal after all. I see it was another instance of the starter pitching well enough to stay in the game longer, yet foolishly gets pulled without even giving up a run with just 74 pitches after 5 innings.

I like ya man, but you know this is baseball. This is gonna make the salt taste so much better. Remember last year when the Cubs had a razor thin lead over the Brewers? Anything can happen.

This could be a super choke job in the works.

I think Carlos Martinez days are nearing their end, one way or another.

Well Joe tried to screw it up putting Cishek in a leverage situation again last night instead of Mills as he should have in that moment.

Cishek gives up a 400 foot out to the track with the bases loaded that the wind kept in - to cut the lead to 3-2 then for some unexplained reason Suarez watches a cement mixer slider drop right over the heart of the plate for strike 3 and Joe gets away with it. the guy just has no feel for his own pitching staff.
