1) If the video cheating system was only used at home, why did the Astros score 395 runs at home and 501 runs on the road?

2) If banging a trash can was the mechanism for relaying the pitch type to the batter, how did they execute this during the postseason when the crowd makes a lot of noise while the home team is batting?

3) Verlander was a last second trade. He had nothing to do with whatever was going on in a new locker room. The faux outrage directed towards him is laughable.

Not at all. I have no dog in this fight. Just haven't seen answers to those 2 questions.

Because they're a really really good baseball team. They just happen to be cheating pieces of shite.

Same here. Haven't even read the particulars of the ordeal to be honest.

Just seemed like the questions were questioning whether it even happened or not.

I'll give you that, but how bad would the home/road split have been if they didn't cheat? 501 runs on the road, 300 runs at home? 250 at home? That seems to defy explanation.

That would make more sense.

home/road split

Look at the 2017 postseason batting average splits. And if it didn't help, why do it?

That's like the Yankees spending all that money to try and buy championships. If it didn't help, then why do it?

A: not everything has to be about big brother

B: the Yankees haven't spent much the last few years and have had fans pretty unhappy about it.

C: it's not easy to win championships when teams are pulling off the worst cheating scandal in baseball history.

2017 Astros postseason
home OPS .862
road OPS .632

Pretty big difference. You'd expect home to be a little better, but .775 home to .725 away would be more realistic.

I just can't figure out why they were so bad at home offensively (relatively speaking) during the regular season vs. away. Maybe they didn't use the system enough to make a difference, and then went full-tilt in the postseason?

2 out of 3 teams they played in the postseason were in the northeast at parks designed for LH hitters while the Astros played their home games in a RH friendly park in room temperature. The regular season stats, both in aggregate, and on a case by case basis for players, pretty much negate any argument that there was a realized, meaningful advantage.
