At this point, I have no problem saying that Harden is well on his way to being a better player than Kobe Bryant. Just a different class of efficiency and passing.

Harden is having an amazing start to the season. But let's pump the brakes. A large part of how a player's career is judged is how they perform in the playoffs. And Harden flat out gave up last year.

About those playoff performances ... yea...

James Harden has averaged 27.3 points, 7.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds and has a 57.9 TS% in the playoffs while with the Rockets. Players who averaged 25/5/5 with a 57% TS% in their careers: LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

I wouldn't argue with you.

Also, Lebron is on a different level than both. He's shooting 58% this year

Harden is incredible, though. I really like him.

Lucky for us we have ws/48 that includes fg%. James is about 14% better by that. And I gotta say that agrees with what I’m seeing. Lebron turns the ball over too much to be put on James level if we are being 100% honest.

Under D'Antoni, this dude went from 11.5 assists to 7.5 assists. 8 rebounds to 5.5.

How do you have THAT big a dip in assists?

That's like Oregon under Kelly when they finally start playing real teams.

LeBron is absurd this year. Him gaining a jumpshot is just scary (and he is very clearly still the literal most valuable player in the world every year). If the Rockets get to 60 wins, Harden will rightfully win the MVP though. And I get the sense that many in the media feel they owe it to Harden after last year.

Swag. You need to set your eyes on 70 Not 60.

Well, everyone knows the playoffs don't flow as well as the regular season. Teams get 7 games to hone in on tendencies and such. But Harden definitely must impose his will better in the playoffs. I am hoping that with CP3 in the fold, he will have more room to operate. He has had teams in the playoffs where he was the only person capable of making a play. Lineups consisting of only catch and shoot players are not good for the playoffs. And I think Morey has made some good changes over the years.

I hope not..

Because y'all have way more than 60 in you

No doubt. The only thing that can compete with that storyline is Lebron legit throwing his name in the ring at this age after not winning for this many years.

And it's happening.

I have no idea what the odds are in Vegas, but I'd say there's a better chance that Harden wins it(at this point) than not winning. And he'd be a deserving winner.

Stats include so many things. The two are basically tied in win shares (Harden has a very slight edge) with Harden ahead in WS/48. Harden has more points and assists, but LeBron is more efficient (as big men tend to be). The biggest difference though is that the Cavs right now are a good team with a point differential of +3.5. The Rockets are elite with a point differential of +11.0.

Basketball stats have gone the way of baseball. I don't understand them anymore.

Which is why I asked.

Member that net rating stat that was so important last year.

HARDEN +6.6
LEBRON +.1

cavs are only a smidgeon better with Lebron on the court vs off. Kinda makes it tough to say he is the ‘most valuable’ no?
