Man she has a resume and a degree. She can get a job quickly. Why do y’all need to live on your income?

We dont. I buy properties with mine now. But if finding her a job thats appropriate for her skill set is tough in that market we can certainly survive.

I’m sure she could get a job in Nola at the least.

Do it. The city sucks. I can't wait to have enough stashed away I can take a part time job in a rural area. I just want a modest size house on an acre or so of land.

She may have to take a pay cut, but she will almost certainly find work in MS. Why not go home?

What are the downsides?

Dude, you already don't need her salary to live, so you can literally live ANYWHERE! I would kill for that kind of passive income.

Diamond Head is a good spot because she could very well try to get a similar position at one of the universities in New Orleans (Tulane, UNO, Loyola, Dillard, Xavier, SUNO) or in Hattiesburg (Southern Miss) and not take a huge hit financially especially when factoring in cost of living. If you think you will be happier living on the gulf coast, I say do it.

With this and her job skills, I am starting to think you made a wise financial move in marrying this lady.

If y'all would be happier living near home I'd move. I could make more money in another city but raising my daughter around my family was important to me and my wife. Different strokes and all.

We would pay cash for our new home in Diamondhead with money weve been saving for a downpayment here.

Anyone here have any advise? Is it a crazy thought she has?

My easy answer is you can do what you want to do.

I also stay home with a 3 year old everyday.

This sounds great and terrifying

Are you from Diamondhead?

Access to gainful employment can be an issue depending on chosen industry on the coast. Not sure what accounting opportunities are there. Possibly she can work remotely?

I lived in Diamondhead when I was young and under no circumstances could I live there now as an adult.

Do you live in New Orleans currently?

I am missing the draw to Diamondhead, and really the coast in general, besides that you own a few rental properties there. If you want to move and get out of a big city (assuming it is N.O.) I think there are better options besides Hancock County.
