VW dieselgate update
Posted by KG6 on 12/9/16 at 8:49 am00
I think several on this board were affected. I got my offer this week and signed, notarized, and uploaded it to the claims site. Waiting for them to review and give me a choice of trade in dates. Anyone get this far yet? How long am I looking before I have a date scheduled? Going to be buying a new car and wondering if I'm making that purchase at the end of December or 3 months from now.
I'm waiting to see what the fix is, but I'm just going to drive the car until the deadline to turn it in most likely. I basically have a non depreciating car for 2 years, so I'm going to hold off on the buyback. The TDI forums have alot of valuable info and people give their buyback experiences also.

yep, I planned on keeping the wife's Passat as it had low miles and she loves it, after looking at the numbers the smart move is hold out until the end and sell it back after driving it for a while longer.
Paid cash so basically we can use it for another year then get almost the full purchase price refunded and just go buy another new car on VW's dime.

Just hope you don't total the vehicle.
This.

If it is totaled, you just take the insurance amount and get it to driveable condition and turn it in.

Not with a salvage title

True, you still get the restitution payment though and that on top of insurance payment will be good enough.

I uploaded most of the docs and faxed one about three weeks ago.....still waiting for that final document to post. Dunno if it was lost or not. Have tried calling several times to get someone to reset the claims portal so I can upload it, can't get anyone to answer due to high call volume. So I'm sitting around, waiting for them to process that one final document. Guess I'm keeping the car through the holidays & probably into February at this point.....

Your insurance company isn't going to pay you shite for the vehicle. Liklely 1/3 of what VW is willing to value your TDI at
You really need to bow out of this one bub as you have no clue what you are talking about.

What's the latest on the Porsche Cayennes? Still being negotiated or did they settle it? Sorry, I googled, got confused, and somehow ended up at xhamster and gave up.

You know I have a TDI?
Compare your current KBB value of the TDI vs the 9/15 value of your vehicle that VW is willing to pay. Then add two more years of depreciation.

This is going to be fun, why would I need to add two years depreciation?

It's been a process. I originally got my documents in with an expired registration. I figured there was no reason to pay the 80 dollars to re-register if I was turning it in soon. Well, they didnt accept the paperwork because it was expired (which I think is BS because maybe I just had it in my garage.....I still should get the deal). So I had to wait for my new registration. And upload that. Basically started again. My paperwork had been approved for like 3 weeks before getting my offer. I turned that in this past week. So I don't expect to be able to schedule for afew more weeks. I'm hoping I can schedule something quick. Really want to hit end of the year or new years deals on a new car. I really need to go up in size from the Jetta, so this worked out.
Also, it's really annoying on the portal that you can't see what you've done before. I think I started the process with a mileage guestimate. I think I over estimated by a few thousand miles (I was on a high floor of an office building and didn't want to walk to the garage, figured I could go back if I was off), but I honestly don't remember and I can't confirm.

Happens to all of us. Except you shouldn't have given up, why stop there?

I uploaded the identifying docs they initially required online months ago and i still haven't gotten anything. So they will mail me a form with my official offer and i will have to get that notarized and then send it back? Im assuming its just taking them longer to process everything so thats why its taking them so long?
